Glasgow based Achren's brand of metal is crushingly heavy and uncompromising. Formed in early 2003 with the aim of forging raw, filthy heavy as fuck metal, their music is a mixture of all extreme metal- Black Metal Screams, Death Metal Growls, Thrashy riffs, Black Metal riffs & pounding drums; everything raw, powerful and heavy.
"Brutally technical death/black/thrash with the shredding and violence turned up to 10... a fearsome live act" - Metal Hammer
"a powerful delivery, a barrage of aggression from a band difficult to pigeonhole into any sub-genre. A set executed with precision from four musicians of the highest quality, the sonic equivalent of a wall of death being broken down in front of your eyes, as we get to witness tracks from the upcoming CD ‘Blood Metal.’
With upcoming UK dates in the near future and an appearance on October’s Terrorizer CD, if the future’s dark, it’s Achren." - John Paterson, GIG Magazine
"Each track is an onslaught in it's own right, full of razor-sharp riffage, low-end vocals and battering drum beats. Not bad for a three-piece without a bassist..." - 7.5/10 Terrorizer
"Combines the best of black metal's melody with the raw metal punch of the 80's" - Goatfucker.co.uk
"Combining different styles like black, death and thrash and melting it into an explosive blast of power" - Brutalism.com
"extreme metal, concise and devastating" - Metal Italia
"the potential they display is quite incredible... if they can get heard in the right places, a record deal is just a formality" - Metal UK
There is doubt as to whether anyone knew what was to be in store for humanity with the formation in Glasgow, Scotland, of The Worlds first “Blood Metal” band, Achren in 2003.
After the line-up solidified in late 2005, Achren performed multiple live shows throughout the UK enduring various accusations ranging from associations with petty criminals to kidnapping and false imprisonment of potential fans. Despite such intriguing distractions, Achren have gained great live critical acclaim and a steady fanbase around the country.
Support slots with bands such as Devildriver (US), Dismember (SWE), Destruction (DE), Onslaught (UK) and Mendeed (SCO) meant word was spreading across Europe of the many unique talents of the band, resulting in a successful if intoxicated, tour of Finland with Perfect Chaos (FI) in 2007
2008 saw Achren record a single, Blood Soaked Banner, with esteemed metal producer Dave Chang (Gorerotted,Desecration, Medulla Nocte) and perform live in session on Vic Galloway’s BBC Radio 1 show. In early 2009, Miranda (bass) left the band to be replaced live by John Clark Paterson. The band is scheduled to record their debut album in 2009 (details TBC)
Achren are the heralds of Scottish Blood Metal and look forward with savage pleasure to the prospect of spreading their aural brutality to countless thousands and terrorising the rest into faithful submission.

SEVEN is incredibly proud to present a night of laughs and brilliant musicianship with ADRIAN EDMONDSON and THE BAD SHEPHERDS!
Saturday May 23rd
"The Bad Shepherds play punk songs on folk instruments. Not as a gag, but because we really like the noise. We think the songs are better than people remember. We love folk instruments. It works.
We do songs by The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Stranglers The Jam, Sham 69, The Undertones, Talking Heads, Squeeze and others, even Kraftwerk! Alright, they're not all punk, but they come from roughly the same era.
We've mostly given the songs a kind of Celtic feel, and we've stuck in the odd reel and jig here and there. But occassionally we just thrash! I've always thought the excitement of a reel taking off is the nearest thing to the excitement of watching punk live in the 70's."
