A trip to Italy, huh? Niiiice! Hope you guys had a good time, and that there was plenty of booze and buttsecks throughout your journey. (I kid!)

Ah, the trouble you speak of... everything's going to be okay. Thank you for asking, btw. It's going to cost me a lot of money and destroy my social life for a year or so, but they won't lock me up or anything. The thing about America is that if you cross over one of these arbitrary lines that rich white men have drawn out in invisible ink, they attempt to do one of two things: Intimidate you into not doing it again (but without teaching you why it's wrong), or force you into an ever-increasing class of hopeless thugs by financially ruining you and cutting off second chances. Be that as it may, it was all my own stupid fault. But still. :D Everything'll work out. More than anything, I just want a damn vodka and tonic. But I guess that's what got me into this ^_^;;

Awesome to hear about your ventures! Please keep me posted. I'd luv to see where that takes you. Will you be doing any design work on the site and/or posting up samples of your work?

After I asked you about the PDF online preflight stuff in my last comment, I did a lot more searching and I didn't come up with anything that really does what I envisioned. So... me and Garret are seriously thinking about making one. Like, a business-class web app. We're still in the early stages of this, but we've done some tests and we think we could pull it off. We've got some crazy ideas- stuff that we think is pretty original. It could end up being a very interesting venture. I'll let you know where that takes us.

Take care!

Your keen eye for design is urgently needed.

http://www.jameslabove.org/becker/

Compare to our current site:

http://www.beckerprint.com/

What do you think? The CSS is kind of a mess at the moment and I need to de-cheese some of the text but by and large I'm pretty proud of it. It's the first complete site I've made in ages. My ultimate goal is to cobble together an authentication/uploader script for it as well.

There's a couple of elements that will stick out like a sore thumb- the fact that the whole of the text of the Trade Customs page is an image irks the hell out of me, but it's gotta stay. But plz, critique me. Don't hold back. I... I can take it.

I'm also working slowly but surely on a redesign of my blog. I'm going to bite the bullet and start figuring out Wordpress; Textpattern's overkill.

What've you been up to? Something secksy, no doubt. Plz tell.

One final thing. In your travels, have you ever come across a server-side script for analyzing elements of a PDF? My boss is interested in finding a way to offer our customers an online preflight service. I'm still looking, but I haven't turned up anything good. Flightcheck, Pitstop, easyPDF, ActivePDF, VeryPDF, DOMPDF, niggerPDF, yada yada yada... you name it, I've read about it. I'm seriously thinking about just saying fuck it and learning Ruby to make my own. I just might do that. It'd be fun.

Take care <3<3<3

U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How has life been treating you?

I've been so lax with doing design stuff outside of my job. I'm going to update my site soon with some of the better things I've done there, and finally get my blog back up and running (maybe give it a new look too). Inspire me plz.
