The Acorn Arts Centre is a small, independently run arts venue with charity status in the heart of Penzance, Cornwall.
The aim was to increase and expand the audiences of the old arts centre by injecting a new enthusiasm for the arts into the community and widening the spectrum of arts provided...
In 2006 we presented over 200 opportunities for people to come and see a theatre performance, dance, music, comedy, plays for children, talks, literature and poetry events, films and workshops.
Being an intimate and friendly venue has meant that it has become one of the most highly regarded by audiences and visiting artists alike. By presenting the best of small scale arts and entertainment the Acorn Arts Centre is one of the longest running venues in Cornwall.
News - The Acorn Arts Centre is taking part in the Night Less Ordinary initiative, courtesy of the Arts Council. Selected events on Friday nights and Saturday matinee shows have a number of FREE tickets to give away people under 26 years, provided you ring the Box Office in advance on 01736 365 520

JAC THE DISCO - their four decks of dancefloor destroying cross genre electro mayhem has quickly gained a reputation for quality that is loved by party rockers everywhere from Cornwall to London to Ibiza
Whilst in the front bar .. panda baiting disco funk HONG KONG PING PONG - a dj collective born from NSB Radio's 'Beating The Crates' who have a penchant for all things funky, rooting it out wherever it can be found.
Plus an exhibition by super talented St Ives artist Sam Bassett who will showcasing some new work based on conversation, misplaced text and current affairs, using a mix of traditional methods with a feeling of contemporary illustration.

A night of drinking, drums and dancing as Disco Debauchery hits Penzance.
Unlike anything you will have ever seen or heard before, The Drum Summit Project is based around members from Hammered Steel; winners of the 'Best Steel Band on the Road' award at the world famous Notting Hill Carnival.
Fronted by MC's Lexis & Mr. Convenience, and also featuring DJ Louis J and a brilliant brass section, 'Drum Summit' combines to give a fresh, innovative and extremely live sound.
Having formed in 2006, 'Drum Summit' have already built a reputation for themselves in this short space of time, which resulted in them playing every night at Glastonbury Festival in 2007, performing alongside the heavyweight 'Twitch' dance group and 'Break Britain B Boys'!
Performing an exclusive set featuring brand new material, Drum Summit will also be accompanied by heavyweight PZ DJs; Brasic & Pastyfari working the 1s & 2s!
Doors open at 8pm with a late license which means the event will run until 1.30 am with music both upstairs and down. The venue will also be decorated from top to bottom, with local artist Mat McIvor displaying his work!
As well as all of that, it's Darcy 'Chubby Digits' 22nd birthday, so expect celebrations a plenty and keep your ears open for news of an after-party!!
