"POOR DAVID'S PUB Jazz: The band Acoustic Distortion defies its name by playing sonorous acoustic jazz songs that are soothing and laid-back. The Irving-based group will play a CD-recording party at one of Dallas' renowned live music rooms."<>
SONOROUS: deep, full, grandiose, imposing, impressive, orotund, resonant, resounding, ringing, rotund, vibrant
Steve Jackson formed Acoustic Distortion in 2006 after re-emerging from his retirement from music in 1981 in frustration over not being able to play original music anywhere. After years of writing songs for his own personal therapy. Jackson was convinced by friends to take his music to the public. It seems to be much more to his liking this time around.
John Molina joined the Band in September of 2007. John is a native of the Dallas area. He began playing at the age of 14, playing in local clubs just a year later. John attended NTSU/UNT and has played in a number of Texas bands over the years.
Pete Pravettoni was asked to fill in for our regular drummer on our August 2, 2008 cd recording show. He had very little time to learn the tunes, some of which he had to develope the beat for. His work impressed the band so much that he was asked to stay on as a permanent member A native of Morgan Hill California, Pete began playing drums in '67 and has played for numerous bands in both California and Texas. Currently Pete shares duties with both Acoustic Distortion and Tom Sykes and the Texas Travelers. Pete also teaches drums and does session work.
Thad Bonduris joined the band in February of 2009, making an instant impact on the bands' sound. His complex backing chords and intricate lead guitar work make an already full sound even broader. Thad is also a graduate of NTSU and has recently obtained his Masters in Music Education from UNT. Thad plays constantly with an array of north Texas bands and teaches music in Denton. The future of Acoustic Distortion just got a lot brighter with his addition.
