Acoustic Eclectic was launched on Wednesday 3rd January 2007.
We are committed to tapping into the hotbed of musical talent by inviting along some of the most interesting and ECLECTIC musicians from the immediate area and beyond to entertain, to perform, to jam, to pretty much anything.
We have a special guest each week who play for up to 45 minutes and an open mic for other performers who get two songs each!
The night is held every Wednesday in the intimate candlelit setting of the Q Inn, Market St, Stalybridge, Cheshire and hosted by Jon Orpheus, Helena Rainbow and Liam Banville.
Musicians, singers, poets, performers and audience are all welcome
admission is free, small amps by prior arrangement only!
In the first year we ran 52 Acoustic Eclectic events, incorporating 52 special guests and approx 400 open mic performances and also a full day event as part of the Q Inn Annual Beer Festival in August 2007 featuring 16 different artistes.
In October 2007 Eclectic Live (www.myspace.com/eclecticlive) was formed with the intention to move beyond the boundaries of acoustic music and open events to fully electric performance Eclectic Live’s early shows were at the world famous “Witchwood” Venue in Ashton-under-Lyne, near Manchester.
In January 2008 the Eclectic Live events began at the “Grotton In The Hollow” a venue recently opened in Oldham where gigs by national and international artistes such as Kangaroo Moon, George Borowski, Dirt Jake Replicas (USA), The Travelling Band, Pie, Pressure Drop, Humble Grumble (Belgium), In Gowan Ring (USA), Magicfolk, Sieben, The Fayre and many more were successfully promoted.
In 2008 Acoustic Eclectic again played host to 52 special guests and approximately 400 open mic performers and the special guest slots are already booking well into 2009.
2008 also saw the Acoustic Eclectic Roadshow begin with an appearance at the Mind Body Boogie Festival in Cheshire in August and several Charity events for the MIND Charity based at the Topaz Centre in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancs. A compilation CD featuring 17 top quality Acoustic Eclectic guests has also been released for the same Charity. (details above)
Acoustic Eclectic also successfully hosted their first weekend festival at their home venue, the award winning Q Inn in Stalybridge, Cheshire in August 2008 and plans are in progress to do another similar event in August/September 2009.
Please arrive early for the 9.00 pm prompt start, seating is limited as we have been enjoying a near full house every week! Finish time is 11.15pm.
A second Acoustic Eclectic compilation CD is currently in the pipeline
