Thank you so much for having me tonight, it was unreal, awesome vibe, awesome setting, wicked crowd. I caught up with 2 mates from years ago and discovered Pukekohe, what a sweet town.
would love to come and play again, anytime!!
Thank you
Matt (Bodman)

Hello Todd and Pip,
Thanks once again for Thursday night, your onto a winner there, exceeded expectations and was the perfect setting to play original music, definitely need more of that in NZ...
Well, hope all goes well in the future for Acoustic Edge.
KB (BLACKBIRD)

Thursday night was out first gig in this spectacular land. It was at a venue called the Harvest bar in a South Auckland town called Pukekohe. Todd and Pip were our excellent hosts and our Sound Engineer was a talented bloke named Dave (who also showcased his Top Gun guitar skills on the night). Audience reaction was great. Attentive, Receptive and Vocal, all in the right moments. It was an awesome way to kickstart our tour. We found ourselves shaking off a bit of rust in the beginning but I reckon we got there in the end.
Pukekohe (and Harvest in particular) will definitely remain in our conscience when planning future NZ tours.
SKUNA QUAY

Hey guys,
Thanks again for having me, I had a great time and enjoyed the high energy and quality of the music. The owners of the bar and barstaff were involved and so open and you guys set up a warm and supportive atmosphere. It was obvious there are a lot of loyal regulars and even though I was the new kid I felt right at home. I like how you have a range of performers and a quiz to keep things humming along and everyone involved, it truly is a great night out. If the vocal was up more and everything else was brought down that might help with that wierd hiss that was happening. I had a fantastic night and felt like a respected performer, you've spoilt me now, how can I ever go back to playing anywhere else? You are a very talented man Todd and I can see how much of a rock you are Pip, as a team you guys just fire!
Thankyou, keep up the amazing work,

Arohanui,

BRON(WYN TUREI) xx

First of all, awesome idea and inspiring to see yours and Pip's passion for the music - that was the first thing I noticed and probably the most important.
Loved the trivia part of the evening, real good to get the audience participating. And the place was packed too, so whatever your marketing strategy is, it's working.
I enjoyed watching the other acts too, you were kool and that girl who was on first, I thought she was great, nice voice. (Bronwyn Turei)
Always great to hear some good quality acts, but even more awesome to see less experienced musicians, like the fourteen year old kid on drums, getting amongst it.
TIPENE ROGERS.

Thanks heaps guys :) I had such a good time on thursday... It was great to hear all that awesome talent in one place!! I think it is really cool what you are doing for us musicians... And you are very talented also! Thanks for having me and Jordan, we are really looking forward to coming again. Good luck for tonight!
Peace
KENDALL TODD

Thanks again for having us. We had a blast and look forward to playing again sometime. Acoustic Edge Rocks!! Cheers.....

About me:
ACOUSTIC EDGE AWARDS EVENING.
THURSDAY 31st JULY. 7.30-11.00pm

We are one year old down at AE. Every one year old has to have a party! For our first birthday we have decided to do something a little different. We are going to have a celebration of original music by having an Awards Evening at Harvest Bar. We know that we are not the Academy Awards, but we also know that we have had some talented people play our night and the best of them should be honored in the FIRST of what we hope will be an annual affair.
We have been through my files and have taken into account EVERY act that has played AE. We have then listened to hours of recordings to come up with the categories and nominees for the evening (these are listed in the blog above). The nominees have then been discussed in detail by a group of AE musicians and supporters. We have then voted on the nominees to come up with the winners. Not an easy task and one that was taken very seriously.
The upshot is that we now have a cool night in store for you. The categories and nominees are listed in our blog. If you have played AE then I would have a look and see if you're up there.
Tickets are $20. We will be limiting the night to the first 70 applicants. If you are nominated you will be reserved your place until the 11th July whereupon the tickets will be made available to the Pukekohe public. The night will include performances by seven invited acts, food served throughout, the awards and a complementary champers on entry....Not bad. To make sure you have your spot you need to email me here to reserve your ticket(s), I will put your name on a guestlist and then you pay for them on the door on the night. We will be decking the place out so it looks plush, we'll also be dressing up as well so all in all it will be a flash, fun night out.
What is the Acoustic Edge 'song of the year???'

See you there,
Todd & Pip

2007 was a hell of a year for AE. From our humble beginnings when we had a stereo for a PA and no idea whether the idea was going to work, to having one of the best original music nights in (South) Auckland. The quality of our acts (Donald Reid, Dave Alley, Andrew Mockler, Flow, Blackbird, Ian Simpson.....etc, etc) was astoundingly good and I thank ALL of the artists who performed last year. I reckon also that one of the extraspecially cool things was that solo musicians and bands enjoyed the challenge of playing acoustically

This year we are back and, as always, we are looking to improve and add to our evenings. One thing we won't be messing with, is our philosophy that has served us well. You WILL be respected as an artist and we WILL do our best to make sure that your night with us is all that you hoped it would be.

Our nights are run from the perspective of the performer and the performers music. You are the attraction and will be treated with the respect that you deserve. Please feel free to add yourself to the site especially if you are a musician who writes and is looking for a place to perform in South Auckland.

The venue is "Harvest Bar" 191 King St Pukekohe (Ph 09 2382308). The nights begin at 7.45pm sharp and are all done and dusted by 10.15pm. Performers will be given a 5 song slot to perform (NOT EXCEED 25 MINS). You choose what to perform but the emphasis is on original music (your take on 1 cover must be included). We will pay a retainer to cover travelling costs ($20), plus there is a $3 door charge. This money is returned in full to the artists. The more you can bring the more you will make.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT AE
1. Your music and performance is treated with respect.
2. The crowd is there for MUSIC & will be focused on what you are doing.
3. We provide a platform to perform, especially if performing is new to you.
4. We will chuck in a couple of beers for you as well!!!
5. PA is provided so you only bring your instrument(s)
6. You will quickly make contacts in the music world. A lot of our acts in the UK went on and got other gigs in London through playing at AE
7. The atmosphere at AE is warm, receptive and non threatening. Perfect for new performers.
To play you need to contact me on this site and then I can hear what you play on myspace, or you can drop a demo into the venue. These DO NOT have to be studio quality, and do not count yourself out if your sound is alternative. We have had punk, hip hop, rock and folk tunes at our nights before.
Thanks, and please get in touch.

WHY PLAY AT ACOUSTIC EDGE?
There are a few reasons that we believe AE is a worthwhile option for musicians.

RECORDING OPTION.
We record our nights, and will record you (if you wish) for free. Then give me contact details, $10 for post and cd, and I'll send it to you. We record on a Boss BR 1180 digital recorder and the quality is pretty good.
NEW RECORDING OPTION.
Dave (our soundy) has a flash new recording desk and he is excellent with all things of a soundy nature. With prior arrangement he can record your set and mix it to release standard!! Perfect for giving a live flavor to your e.p. Price to be negitiated beforehand. Contact me to arrange or go straight to his page above on myspace.

PHOTO OPTION
Pip takes some pretty cool photo's of everyone who performs at AE. She uses all fancy functions and what not. If you wish you can buy live photo's of you performing for $5. We'll send them to an email address. Fantastic for myspace pages!!

GREAT SOUND
We play through Mackie SRM 450's. Our sound engineer Dave Alley is an exceptional bloke and an exceptional talent, when it comes to mixing sound. We play with two front of house speakers and monitors.

EASY
Come down, plug in, play.

CROWD
AE has gathered great momentum over the last six months which means that we are averaging 70-80 people at our nights. We have had sellout nights with 130 (max capacity) punters through the door. We love you to bring fans along, and along with our promotional efforts locally we provide a crowd that wants to hear what YOU have to offer.

EXPERIMENT
Experienced song writers (Donald Reid, Andrew Mockler, Blackbird.....) are using the night to experiment with new tunes. We are a good option to 'road test' new material.

PROMOTIONS
We will promote you to our local fanbase through an email programme sent out before each gig. This also goes out to all our friends on myspace. We will feature you in our top friends prior to your performance and a bit after as well. All of our nights are publicised at the Bar well in advance.

You are free to promote yourself at your performance. Upcoming gigs, myspace, etc. If you wish to have a poster or two up, feel free. You are also able to promote and sell your music at our nights free of charge....

And it's cool fun....

That's why.
