LIGHTNING SEEDS TO PLAY AT NEW LOOK ACOUSTIC GATHERING Top 90s brit-pop band The Lightning Seeds are to play an exclusive acoustic set to kick off this year's Acoustic Gathering Festival. The band, originally from Liverpool, have had several top 20 hits including Life of Riley, Pure, Sugar Coated Iceberg and, of course ,the massive #1 hit Three Lions. The Lightning Seeds will be making a splash on the Peasholm Park bandstand in an evening performance alongside special guests Chris Helme (Seahorses and The Yards) and local favourites Mark Stanley and The Field Notes on Saturday 8th of September. The Acoustic Gathering team released this statement to the media: "We intend to close the 100th anniversary celebrations of Peasholm Park with a show that people will never forget. We're really pleased that The Lightning Seeds have chosen us for a rare acoustic performance. This is going to work superbly with our Sunday headliner, 3 Daft Monkeys and all the other artists we've booked. Please find all the answers to your questions on our website www.acousticgathering.co.uk or on our Facebook page" The organisers decided to put on the Saturday evening concert in order to subsidise the ticket price of Sunday, which will be similar in style to previous Acoustic Gatherings. The AG team have been working flat out to make sure this year's festival goes ahead, following the perfect storm of funding crises, licensing issues and the extra conditions demanded by the Police for this year's event. "The groundwork has been laid for any future events we get involved in. This has been a demanding yet exciting time for us" said Steve Dickinson. "It's a real privilege to be able to put Acoustic Gathering on in such a stunning location but it's also a massive responsibility to get it right. We see it as great way of promoting the town and we hope to be recognised as a must attend date on the festival calendar."
