about the GREEN FROG CAFE ACOUSTIC TAVERN...
Beer. Music. Peanuts. These are the three essential ingredients to having a great time at the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern (which is a tavern, not a band).
We feature 23 delectable fermented beverages ON TAP, all which hail from the West Coast. We take great pride and joy in finding and selecting (via microscopic-brewery-hunting-trips) the finest ales and lagers for your drinking pleasure. You are bound to find something that interests your palate.
The variety of music that graces our humble establishment is down right mind-boggling.
You may have already seen DANNY BARNES, ANAIS MITCHELL, ALYSE BLACK, CHUCKANUT DRIVE, C.R.AVERY, HAMELL ON TRIAL, HILLSTOMP, HOT CLUB OF COWTOWN, JONATHAN BYRD, MATT COUGHLIN, MICHELLE MALONE, THE WAYBACKS, RACHEL RIES, THE SAM MARSHALL TRIO, STAR ANNA, ROBERT SARAZIN BLAKE, KASEY ANDERSON, THE CRYING SHAME, THE GINN SISTERS, THE MIGHTY GHOSTS OF HEAVEN, or another great act. We have live music every night of the week. The musicians that come through our door are not always well known, but always worth a listen. Please come down and support them.
If you didn't know, 100% OF THE MUSIC you hear in the tavern was made from the BANDS/MUSICIANS THAT HAVE GRACED OUR STAGE, no exceptions. So, if you're hearing it, chances are you saw the show or you're standing next to someone who did.
Get our once a month reminder-email of upcoming shows and brewers nights.
The one thing that separates us from the masses is that we provide instruments for our customers to play. Guitars, banjo, mandolin, bass...we have them all. The stage is open for anyone that wishes to play (unless, of course, there is a scheduled performer on it). The amount of talent in the Bellingham area is incredible and it is truly a joy to provide a venue for those without one.
This has become a peanut bar. The peanuts used to be free, but then we realized we gave away 9000.00 dollars worth of the salty legumes last year. You still get to throw the shells on the floor, but you might think twice about using them to peg your friends across the bar. After all, they were originally intended for consumption.
Influences
Ron Hardesty, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, Emmylou Harris, Lightnin' Hopkins, Johnny Cash, Rodney Crowell, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings.... Beer. Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
We all know there's nothing more annoying than some random band asking you to sign up for their mailing list. Oh, hey, by the way. Wanna sign up for my mailing list? Click here if you do.
