The Beginning formed in 2007 when Jon Mendez and Allen Boyce joined forces one night at a show at Spivey's Bar & Grill in Lenexa, KS. Jon had been playing solo acoutic shows around town for the last two years, while Allen had played in various gospel, blues, and alternative bands around town. What started out as a coincidence has turned into a musical style that is not seen elsewhere in the Kansas City area. The band originally went by the name "Acoustic Therapy", but eventually changed it to "The Beginning" after it was assumed that they were a "typical acoustic act". Those who have gone to shows find that this band is high energy and is "typical" in no way. They currently book gigs in the Kansas City metropolitan area, but are always looking to gain more exposure. If you have the chance to catch a show, do it. You will not be disappointed.
