Oh no, not another Zep tribute band? Well YES and NO. It’s a YES but with a twist- as our moniker suggests it’s Zeppelin played acoustically. As you’d expect in our shows we include traditional acoustic classics such as ‘Going To California’, ‘Bron- Y- Aur Stomp’ and ‘That’s The Way’. But you may be surprised to find versions of songs that are normally regarded as ‘electric’ performed. Fancy acoustic arrangements of ‘Immigrant Song’, ‘Misty Mountain Hop’ and ‘ Whole Lotta Love’ anyone?
We’ve been billing our shows as ACOUSTIC ZEPPELIN- AND BEYOND, giving us the option to play post Zep material by Page, Plant and Jones. Recently we’ve been joined on stage by the excellent Bryony Hackfort to perform songs from Robert and Alison’s ‘Raising Sand’ album as well as ‘Battle Of Evermore’.
So where does the NO come into it? Well it’s a NO to look-alikes and you’ll not find any costumes or heaven forbid wigs on us (though some might say it might not be such a bad idea! See pics). Also we are not copyists, we do not try to do impressions of Zep- just play the wonderful songs to the best of our abilities. We use the original recordings as our starting point as Zeppelin used to, often using arrangements found from bootlegs and post Zeppelin performances as well as our own (Nothing too radical though!). Capturing the heart, vibe and soul of the songs is all important to us. We are lifelong fans who happen to be musicians paying tribute of the purest kind. So, ACOUSTIC ZEPPELIN - Exactly what it says on the can!
