ACITS was formed in 2000 by members John Wood and Michael Tyler, splitting the songwriting duties, vocals, and guitar parts, with many contributors joining up along the way.The first lineup (2000-2002, 1st EP) featured Bryan Smith on bass, and Sam Chintha drumming, co-producing/co-engineering.
The second line up (2002-2005, self titled album) featured Adam Robinson on bass, and Eric Swartz on drums. Dino DeJesus and Dominic Senibaldi provided bass and drums, respectively, during 2004.
ACITS is working towards a follow-up to be released for 2008.
Michael is also with THE HANDS out of Seattle. John and Sam have formed TORSION FIELDS. Both groups are releasing albums in 2008.

Indie psych rockers A Cricket in Times Square blaze a wide swath of feedback and demonstrate considerable improvisational ingenuity on their self-titled debut. While there's a definite heavy music vibe going on ("Blood from Heaven"), their sound also encompasses elements of shoegaze and experimental rock; the atmospheric ballad "Mourning Son" even somewhat resembles recent Yo La Tengo (circa And Then the Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out). A characteristic artifact of the recording is its reverberant acoustic, which gives plenty of bounce and resonance to the group vocals on "Careless" and endless ping to the incisive guitar leads on "5-Minute Hallway." There's a certain exuberance here that's also appealing; ACiTS rock out with abandon on "Everything Known about Medicines" and create an engaging long-form jam on "Outliving Your Shadow." Heady stuff. -

"If you like your harmonies to be bludgeoned to within an inch of their lives then you'll be salivating over A Cricket In Times Square’s ‘Fast, Cheap, Out Of Control’. Don’t know whether it was recorded in an airport hanger or if they dispensed with the noise reducing microphones but this thing springs from the speakers with more ingrained spirit and joie-de-vivre than a thousand soppy Jack Blunt numbers. The saving grace of course is the choppy riffs and distant vocals that recall shoegaze during one of its more lucid moments. Of course, Sweden’s South Ambulance produce this gold by the bucket load so if you are enamoured make your way down Labrador way. ACITS have good form boasting a couple of members from Alcian Blue at various stages of their development. Before you ask they actually come from Washington D.C. and all reports suggest they are releasing an album this summer. KD"
