Vegans take personal responsibility for making the world a better place by giving up meat, dairy products, eggs, and other animal-derived items. By doing so, vegans don't contribute to the needless suffering of animals. Living a vegan lifestyle is the best thing you can do to help animals. On average a person switching from the standard American diet to a vegan diet will prevent the abuse and killing of about 100 animals per year. If you are not already vegan, please work to cut all meat, egg, and dairy products out of your diet. If you don't feel you can go vegan "cold turkey," you may want to try reducing your animal product consumption by a set amount every week, until you are completely vegan. Remember, it's not an all or nothing. Every time you choose vegan food over animal products you are making a difference. If going vegan seems too difficult right now, start simple. Eat veggie dogs, use soy milk on your cereal, increase the portions of the vegan foods you already eat.

MEET YOUR MEAT

Everything shown in Meet Your Meat is standard agricultural practice [SAP]. Some is even better. In the USA, there are no laws to protect birds at any stage of meat or egg production, and the only US law that covers mammals is the Humane Slaughter Act, which is barely enforced and usually only covers things that are not considered SAP. There are no isolated cases in the Meet Your Meat video. The reason this persists is, in part, because people refuse to believe it. The cruelty and killing will not stop unless we stop supporting it. Commercial meat, egg, and dairy production are done for profit, just like any other business, so as long as a practice increases profits, it will be done, regardless of the impact on the animals. You can try to deny what goes on or justify supporting it--or believe that you are not supporting it--but the reality is that eating meat, eggs, and dairy does support what you see in the video.

    i am an animal lover i have 3 of my cats that i have saved from abuse.
    im trying to go vegitarian. one step at a time though and i might show that video to my youth group.
    first im cutting of cow and pig. then i will cut off turkey and eventually chicken.
    i refuse to use any product that hurts animals. because i have a ton of pets and i wouldnt want them going through that.
    im glad that there are people like you that actually care about the lives of animals they can hardly fight back.
    and we wouldnt like it if the situation was reversed . im going to keep tweeting and supporting this page.
    and the fight against animal abuse and slaughter.

    as I learned more and more about vegans and their ways I decided to give it a try...it lasted for about 1 month until I broke and started eating meat again. Being around my family, it was hard eating dinner with them because all of our meals contain meat. I hope to find the mental strength I need to stay towards becoming a vegan...but for now, it's out of my reach! I'll try again soon and see how it goes!

    That's horrible .. I seriously just watched like every video on this page . I hate it when animals even get like hit by people or anything . I can't even imagine how it would feel to be that helpless little animal not even being able to protect itself. I really am going to think about going vegetarian. Because, this stuff is horrible.

    wow so i watched your "go vegan" video and i cried! that was so horible! i never looked at it the way that i just saw! it really hurts me to see that! i am curious,... does going vegan make u more prone to sickness? i heard it does? jw and i think imma give it a shot!

    the meet your meat video is so sad! I've already been somewhat a vegetarian for the past 5 1/2 yrs. Meaning I exclude any type of meat red white or grey and eggs as well. but my nutritionist told me many vegans have weak immune systems and grow anemic? what'd be a good way to substitute milk needs?
