Active Slaughter are an Anarcho Activist Punk Band - All of us in the band are involved in the activist movement in one way or another. While many just shout about it - We actually do it.
Active Slaughter formed in 2002 by Jake And JJ. We straight away drafted in Trev on drums (former Bug Central, X-creats and Intensive care member) and Joe (Intensive care).
We formed with a view of bringing Anarcho Punk back into Punk due to a lack of Anarcho bands at the time.
After a while joe left and we drafted in Goz (too many bands to mention!).
Then after a while Goz left and we drafted in our current bass player Jamie.
As well as playing many benefit gigs, it was our intention to put on as many benefit gigs as we could in London and we have done since 2002 and still continue to. Anarcho punk used to be about having great bands play benefit gigs and raise money for various grassroots campaigns but sadly there is still not enough of this - too many egos and too many rock stars. But we hope by us working hard all the time putting on benefit gigs we can at least contribute to the causes and maybe influence others into doing the same.
We have put out 2 albums to date. Our first AVE A BUTCHERS in 2002. In then released in early feb 2009 our latest album 42TUDE.
We have also put out 3 benefit compilation cds have have raised lots of money for various causes

JJ from London Anarcho Punk band ACTIVE SLAUGHTER set for big animal rights trial in court
On the 1st may 2007 police raided 32 addresses around the country and arrested and charged 14 people with conspiracy to blackmail.
They were charged with conspiracy to blackmail Huntingdon Life Sciences, relating to the SHAC campaign.
One of the activists charged was our very own guitarist and co-founder of Active Slaughter - JJ
His trial along with 6 others will take place at the end of 2009 or early 2010. This is the 2nd part of the trial for the police operation named "operation achilles".
The trials were split into 2 parts because of the number of activists involved.
The first part of the trial with involved 7 other activists ended just a few weeks ago in which 2 pleaded guilty and 4 were found guilty after pleading not guilty. And one other was found not guilty.
Just a few days ago the 6 "guilty" were sent to prison and they all received very long sentences of between 4 - 11 years in prison.
We find these long sentences outrageous as no violent crime was committed. You get less time in prison for rape and sometimes murder.
We now await the trial of JJ and the 6 other people he is on trial with and wish them all the best of luck. They are all on strict bail conditions in which they cannot take part in or orgainise any animal rights demos and they are not allowed to talk to each other and they must sleep at their homes every night
............But until the trial, Active Slaughter is still going strong with JJ and no matter what happens in the near future Active Slaughter will always carry on
