NEWS
News. 5.18.09 Tons of stuff to update on again. As always, to backtrack for a minute, year two of SXSW for us was even better than the first. Amazing times and amazing shows with some amazing bands. We ran into some problems regarding a certain fucktard and some slashed tires but nonetheless the trip was a success. We certainly await for what year 3 holds in store for us. Moving on...
Next up, we've began pre-production for our next release. We have a week of dates booked during the middle of June with Matt Talbott [singer/guitarist of HUM] at his studio in Tolono, IL. We will be tracking and mixing this entire release to tape, no digital at all. This release will consist of about 3-5 new pieces we've been working on for awhile, chances are if you've seen us live over the last year or so you've heard some of the songs that will be featured on it. This release will be featured as a vinyl exclusive release and will feature a dropcard for mp3 versions of the songs as well. We will be using photos from our very good friend Andrew Weiss for the artwork on this release and we're planning some interesting packaging ideas for it as well. Stay tuned for more info on that to come...
Second up, in late July / beginning of August we're doing a two week tour with our good friends in NORTH. The dates are primarily in the midwest and the North. Next, we're really excited to announce this. A label based out of the UK called Sound Devastation Records will be releasing our deput ep "...I Carry." in Europe. They are planning to release it as a gatefold 10' with the right side of the gatefold housing the 10' and with the left side featuring a die-cut with a cd version of the ep, much like Torche's 'In Return' if you've seen it. A release date hasn't been set yet but for all you vinyl nerds stay tuned for more info on that...
Lastly, thank you to anyone that came out to any of the three Denver shows we played last week, we had a blast. The Big Business show was definitely a big highlight for us, thank you to those of you that showed up early and caught our set. We hope to see you all soon again.
News. 3.13.09 It's been awhile since we've said anything. We've been very busy as of late. Our tour out to the east coast and back over the new year went fucking swell. The Radar Recordings showcase in Boston also was a fucking blast, definitely a night not to forget. Thanks to all of you that helped us out and that hung out and made the whole tour a blast, it was great to get back out east and see a lot of you we haven't seen in forever and great to meet a lot of new people as well. Thanks.
A few updates on what we've been up to:
We've recently decided to take a break from playing shows and touring to focus on writing for our next releases. We're really excited for this to happen. We haven't been in a studio since July of 2006. We've been writing like mad lately and are really excited on the direction of how some of our pieces are coming together. We have some really cool ideas also on what we're planning for packaging, art, etc. We're also excited about who we're planning to work with for recording, art, etc. too. More details on that to come...
We did say we were taking a break from touring, but, next week we will be traveling down to Austin, TX for the annual SXSW festival. Last year was our first time down there in this band and to date was probably one of the best times we've had in this band so far, so to say we're really excited to be doing it again is hardly describing how we feel. We will be playing almost all new material, so if you're around check the dates below and come check them out.
03.18 • Amarillo, TX @ The 10th Street Deli
03.20 • Austin, TX - SXSW @ Plush
03.22 • Austin, TX - SXSW @ Red 7 • RADAR RECORDINGS THIRD ANNUAL SXSW PARTY w/ Pelican / Wolves in The Throne Room / Tombs / Caspian / Junius / Constants / Pack of Wolves / Battlefields / Irepress / Calm Blue Sea / Howl
News 7.31.08 It's been almost 6 months since our last update but things have definitely been nothing short of hectic around here. First off to reflect back on our spring tours, all that comes to mind is wow. SXSW was easily one of the best times we've ever had as this band hands down. Thanks to all the people who hung out and all the new friends we made, we look forward to heading back down there next year. Our second half out was just as incredible. It was our first time out in most of those places and we met some of the most wonderful people and we want to say thanks to you who helped out, we hope to revisit all of your towns and more very soon.
Next up, we realize in our last couple posts we mentioned that the re-release of our debut ep would be available early this year through Radar Recordings and it's now the end of July and still no word on how to obtain it. Of course with anything, nothing works out quite the way you want it to but in this case it turned out better than we could of imagined. Things got pushed back a little as Radar sealed a a deal with Nail Distribution for our record, and come September 9th our record will be available at most indie stores across the states as well as through the Radar Recordings site and iTunes as well. Pre-orders for the album will go up via the Radar Recordings site starting mid-August and the first 50 orders will include a free hand silkscreened poster along with the album.
Lastly, if you've checked out our page, we've got some new dates posted for the end of August. We're hitting mostly states around the midwest and the west and we'll be making most of the trek with some friends of ours from AZ called NORTH who also just put out a new album which they will be touring in support of. Check it out, it's definitely some of their best work to date. As always, we're really excited to be out on the road again and to see old friends as well as make new ones. Thanks!
News. 1.18.08 Dates have been posted above for our upcoming spring tours. First we'll be making the trip down south to the annual SXSW festival in Austin, TX with some friends of ours from Albuquerque, NM called The Coma Recovery. We'll be playing a Radar sponsored showcase at sxsw featuring all the best of Radar Recordings (CONSTANTS, JUNIUS, CASPIAN) plus a ton of other incredible bands so be there.
Secondly, we'll be headed out on a west coast tour with some friends of ours from Salt Lake City, UT/Seattle, WA called Nine Worlds. We're really excited for this because we haven't been out west in years and we'll be hitting a lot of new places in the northwest. Some of the cities in CA aren't set in stone, so if you don't see your town on there and would like us to come, write us and we'll see what we can do. And as always, if you see a show you think you could help out on we could always use the extra help, so write us on here or shoot us an email @ iheartadai@gmail.com . Thanks, hope to see a lot of you soon.
News. 10.24.07 After almost 2 of the most atrocious weeks of our fall tour we're deeming it the only appropriate name possible as the "problems" tour. This tour for us was by the far the worst we've ever endured as this band. From van problems, to shows falling through(shitty promoters), to blown guitar head(s), even guitars breaking in half, we just couldn't go on. We were both out of money and patience for it all we had to do what we deemed necessary to make it home in one piece and do just that; go home.
This disappoints us more than anything to be at home writing this but circumstances just wouldn't allow us to continue what we were doing. We're very sorry to all of you that helped set up the shows that we couldn't make and for those of you that planned to attend to see us. Please still go as Caspian will still be doing all the dates and they aren't a band you want to miss! Thanks to everyone who helped us out during the days we were out, we really appreciated it, and to everyone in the east, we'll be back out soon! Keep an eye out for news regarding the re-release of our EP via Radar Recordings for an early 2008 date. Thanks.
News. 9.24.07 After 5 months of nothing too exciting happening in Adai HQ, we're very excited to announce that we will be teaming up with our very good friends and the wonderful crew that is Radar Recordings to re-release our debut EP titled "... I Carry". The re-release will feature the entire layout of Artwork done by the talented Seldon Hunt (www.seldonhunt.com) and is scheduled for a very early 2008 release!
We couldn't be more excited to join such a group of hard working people and artists that make up the core of Radar Recordings, if you haven't heard of any bands on there you're really missing out. Head over to www.radarrecordings.com or www.myspace.com/radarrecordings to check out some of the best music out there today!
Lastly, we're excited to bring in the fall by hitting the road. We will be touring all through October into November. We'll be joining with one of the most incredible bands and a personal favorite of mine called Caspian for a handful of dates along the east coast. Check them out, they have one of the most incredible live shows!
The tentative routing of dates is posted above, and as always we're still in need of some help on a few dates, so if you see an open date you think you could help with or even if you don't see your city on it and you think could help, shoot us a message and we'll see what we can do to make it happen!
News. 4.26.07 Our new EP is Done!! Art turned out incredible and the mastered version is bigger than we'd hoped it would be. You can view some low res pictures of the album art at www.seldonhunt.com. We also added "Hawkins" and "Home" from the EP here on our myspace and also on our Purevolume. We made a limited edition pressing of 200 hand slikscreened versions of "...I Carry." and still have a few left, if you would like to purchase one contact us here or email us at iheartadai@gmail.com. We also just got home from almost a months worth of dates with our good friends in Constants and Junius, and we couldn't have had a better time out. Thanks to everyone who helped us out in any way on those tours, we really appreciated it!!
News. 12.30.06 Things are shaping up quite nicely for the release of our EP "...I Carry." The EP will consist of 5 tracks clocking in at just under 25 minutes. The track listing is:
1. The March...
2. And Termination
3. Home
4. A Mark Of Ownership
5. Hawkins
Art is being handled by the very very talented Seldon Hunt. You can check out some of his past and current work at www.seldonhunt.com Mastering is being handled by Nick Zampiello @ New Alliance East Mastering and we couldn't be more excited about that. All in all things are looking good for the release. We're getting most of our gear problems worked out along with some other kinks we've been having some trouble with. Thanks to you that planned to attend Across Tundras tour kick off to see us and for being so kind about our situation and what happened. We hope to have all this mess of stuff sorted out and to schedule some shows as well as a cd release party in the coming months. Stay tuned for more news and new tunes up here shortly.
News. 7.3.06 We just got back from our tour out to Godcity for the recording of our new EP titled "I Carry". Unfortunately we ran into some small van problems and had to cancel most of the second half of our tour and we're very sorry to those that helped with the shows and those who planned to attend. We'll be back out in no time to make all of those up. Recording went well, we worked with the talented Kurt Ballou at Godcity in Salem, Massachusettes, and we couldn't be more excited to release the songs. We did 5 tracks clocking in at around 25 mins. More details regarding release date, art, track listing TBA. Furthermore touring has taken a toll on us financially and gearwise so we will be taking the next 4-6 months off from touring and playing shows all together to get that situation worked out and to continue writing some new material that we've been keeping under wraps. Keep checking back for new tunes up in the next month or so, we'll keep you updated. Thanks to everyone that helped us out on tour, gave us food, shelter, beer, etc. etc. and to those who came out and just partied with us and stayed up with us til 6 in the morning just shooting the shit, you made these tours compeltely worth it. Thanks to Battlefields, Lye By Mistake, Sender Reciever, Empires, Cougar Den and Brian Rogers for being the raddest dudes ever!
