AdaKaiN…a kind of addiction that touches the inner part of oneself and holds on. A diverse blend of sounds that grasp the ears with melodious intent. This is how one might describe the intense rock sound that AdaKaiN creates. Their sound mixes intricate guitar harmonies, heavy halftime, and captivating melodies; a blend that makes for an overwhelming and inspiring style only AdaKaiN can perfect.
The band was formed in 2006, but began gaining actual recognition in early 2007. In September 2007, AdaKaiN released their first E.P., Tears of Dysphoria. The symbolic reference to the title of the E.P. refers to their outlook on not only what has happened to the music industry today, but also the chaotic surrealism that plagues the minds of society. The E.P. was recorded with award winning and well-established producer Eric Delegard.
AdaKaiN's debut full-length, "Together in the Heart," was recorded in July, with Delegard once again behind the mixing board, and self-released on October 31. For this album the quintet started with the blueprint established on "Tears of Dysphoria" but this time delved deeper emotionally and musically.
Tracks such as "The Only One," "Run" and "Hearts" offer a high energy dose of nu-metal with plenty of grinding, dual-guitar interplay from Carter and Woods, dynamic shifts, tempo changes and the requisite blending of melodic, emo-tinged lead vocals punctuated by guttural, throat-rending backing vocals. Other cuts, like power ballads "The Star in the Storm" and "Go," still employ crunchy guitars and dynamic shifts but thankfully utilize actual pop harmonies instead of the Cookie-Monster-on-a-crack-binge wail so prevalent today.
Buck, who replaced original singer Kenny Poovey in 2007, is a highly emotive singer that wears his heart on the sleeve of his greasy T-shirt. Whether dealing with a failed romance, father issues or inner turmoil, Buck presents the topics in a manner that should resonate with fans of confessional melodic rock delivered with metal intensity.
The members of AdaKain have collectively shared the stage with acts such as Evans Blue, Sevendust, Mushroomhead, Kittie, Buckcherry, 3 Doors Down, Godsmack, Mudvayne, It Dies Today, Silent Civilian, Blessed by a Broken Heart, Bring me the Horizon, and many more.
