Did you sell your soul or something? I had already sold my soul for a used Green Machine the previous year so I had to go through the excruciating process of auditioning. I actually wouldn’t have even known about the opportunity if my friend’s boyfriend’s roommate didn’t actually work at the website GameSpot, who at the time was associated with the show. Here’s the best part, after I got the job they told me I had to play more games…I whined, but eventually capitulated. I heard a crazy rumor that you used to be in the exciting world of banking back in the day? Is that true, and if so what the hell were you thinking? -Don’t believe rumors, unless they’re true. That one was true. I worked as a credit analyst for a very large multinational financial institution and helped determine if various Fortune 500 companies were worthy of multi-million dollar lines of credit. I wore a suit to work every day. I was a recent graduate with an English degree. I cried myself to sleep a lot. Do you know if you Google yourself, one of the sites that comes up is all about what you wear on the show day to day; do you find that more flattering or creepy? -As long as no one’s so stupid to wear the same clothes as me, I can live. What’s it like working with co-host Morgan Webb? Let’s say you’re Regis, would Morgan be more like your Kelly Ripa or your Kathy Lee? -It’s more like I’m her Tammy Faye. What? If you could magically jump into any game, and become a character--what game and character would it be and why? -Rayman. He has unattached appendages, he lives in a magical world of color and his best buddy looks like a pitcher plant. Who could ask for more? Would you consider yourself a geek, gamer or both? -Well I love playing games and I eat live chickens. What? If you weren’t hosting X-Play, what job do you think you would have instead? -When I close my eyes I’m still wearing the suit and tie, they’re more faded now but the tear and coffee stains are very fresh. You review and preview a ton of games for X-Play; do you have any say in what games are chosen for the show? -Pretty much the criteria is “is it a game?” I mean, c’mon, we reviewed La Pucelle Tactics. You get to travel a lot for the show, what is one of your favorite places that you have visited and why? -Outside of downtown Indianapolis…Tokyo. I’ve always considered myself something of a city boy, but boy that place is something else. Nothing makes any sense and there’s lots of it. Wow, though, when you find something cool there, it’s really, really cool, while you’re in Japan. I always buy clothes there and when I wear them in the U.S., I look like a dork. Favorite platform, favorite type of game, and favorite game of all time? -I have no favorite platform, when you play with all of them; you only care about the games. In terms of favorite type of game, I’m a platformer fan all the way. My favorite classic platformer series is the Ghosts n’ Goblins series but nowadays, it’s Ratchet and Clank, that’s perfection on a disc.
