Adam Cote is a double bassist who currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. He began playing the bass guitar at the age of thirteen. Soon after, he developed a love for the music of John Coltrane and decided to pursue a career in music. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford where he studied with Nat Reeves. It was during the sophomore year of his undergraduate career that he decided to shift his focus from the bass guitar to the double bass. He then earned his Masters in Music degree from SUNY Purchase where he studied with Todd Coolman and Doug Weiss. Noted New York City venues where Adam has performed include the Bitter End, the Garage, 55 Bar, and Smalls where he is currently the house bassist for the Tuesday late night jam session. He also frequently performs in Philadelphia at Chris’ Jazz Café. In May of 2009, Adam was a member of the Ken Fowser/ Behn Gillece Quintet that competed in and won the 2nd annual Generations Jazz Competition. This same band has recently released an album on the Posi-tone record label in early 2009. He has performed with David Hazeltine, Joe Magnarelli, Spike Wilner, Ralph Lalama, Joe Strasser, Steve Davis and Joel Frahm.
