"I'll tell you how it works, right.. I took a note - a sawtooth wave off this Pantomine 4, put it back here, regenned it through itself, looped it back, mixed it with the sound of this crab committing suicide then let it stew in its own reverb for about 3 hours, right, then I pump it all out through this shoe to give it that ochy timbre..." - The Mighty Boosh.
As frustrating as a fingerless child inheriting a bubblewrap factory. - Ross Noble.
With an audio background of 23 years and mastering professionally for over 13 years, Adam Dempsey brings a wealth of experience on all music genres to DELUXE MASTERING. (What is mastering? Click here).
Hi, thanks for stopping by. Audio mastering is what I do professionally and I'm happy to be part of a world-class mastering service with Tony "Jack the Bear" Mantz in a new, no-compromise facility in the heart of burgeoning, muso-friendly Brunswick, Melbourne - considered Australia's "music capital".
With a keenness for high definition audio, an ear for detail and helping you achieve the final sound you're after, professional mastering is about bringing a uniformity and flow to your project via the experience and objectivity it deserves.
A first for Australia, our cosy yet acoustically accurate rooms are custom designed by George Augspurger (Marcussen Mastering, A&M Mastering, Sony Mastering, Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Studios, etc). The best in monitoring is handled by Duntech Regent modified speakers and Australian made Legend sub woofers.
My background combines a mutual cross-over with Tony in rock/pop and hip hop, along with folk, blues, metal, country and jazz, including many ARIA Award, Bell Award and Mo Award winning and nominated releases.
Beginning at an early age with a reel to reel tape recorder, my passion for music and sound later progressed to cassette-to-cassette editing on a portable stereo with a 5 band graphic equaliser.
In 1985 I delved into public radio as a volunteer announcer and broadcast trainer, being one of the founders of what is now Yarra Valley FM. This led me to mobile disco DJ work, 8 track recording, a stint in film sound "boom swinging" at Crawfords Productions, RMIT student radio (now SYN FM), engineering studies at Melbourne's acclaimed studios Sing Sing and Metropolis, live sound mixing and as a drummer for 14 years in several giggingbands around Melbourne.
During this time I began mastering at Australia's first independent mastering facility, where I worked for more than 11 years as senior mastering engineer in association with Newmarket Music - Australia's major jazz music label.
I'm proud to remain a 10% sponsor discounter for current radio 3RRR and 3PBS subscribers, supporting local independent music.
