Adam’s passion for music sprouted in 1994 at the age of 11. A year later he had developed a healthy obsession for the guitar which lead to 2 ½ years of private studies with top session player and 1994-95 Guitarist of the Year winner, Dave Colquhoun (Rick Wakeman, Ozzy Osbourne, Bow Wow Wow). Two years after those first notes and months of habitual practice, Adam himself became a runner up in the ’97 Young Guitarist of the Year finals at the tender age of 14. The performance took place at the London Guitar Show, held annually at the Wembley Conference Centre. Adam was featured in several local newspaper articles. .. In 1999, for his commendable efforts in class, frequent assembly solo performances and outstanding contributions to end of term musical productions, Adam won his school’s Paul Smith Memorial Prize for Best Achieved in Music. By 2001 he had successfully completed his Music BTEC studies at the BRIT School of Performing Arts. He then proceeded to focus on building his student repertoire, both privately and at a handful of schools. He quickly established himself as a popular local guitarist and tutor, specialising in Rock & Pop/Heavy Metal styles, but with an understanding and ear to adapt to other tastes and genres... Adam has continued to teach and involve himself with several musical projects which have gained him valuable live gigging and session experience in the studio, abroad, and locally. He has occasionally conducted several of his own guitar seminars in schools and local musical retail outlets. He is a keen performer, writer, and possesses some expertise in the fields of music recording and production. With an assured knowledge covering all levels of technique and theory, Adam provides a fun and lucid teaching approach to the fundamental and somewhat overlooked playing topics. I have been a professional musician and guitarist for 15 years and teaching for the past 9 years at numerous schools, colleges and as a home-based private instructor. I specialise in contemporary styles such as Rock, Pop, Metal, Blues and also take a keen interest in Jazz. Lessons typically incorporate well known and popular songs with the techniques required to play them. Grades and learning to read music are also incorporated although this can be optional... The primary aim of my lessons is get students playing fun, familiar and enjoyable music as I believe this is the key to progress. The various song examples will act as an introduction to the techniques required when playing the instrument.
