Adam Jonathon Wagner was born in Chesterton, Indiana on June 27, 1983. He spent most of his life in Indiana, but temporarily lived in Mesa, Arizona during first and second grades.
He received a BFA in Musical Theater from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. During his college life, he taught himself to play piano. In June 2005, he presented an original revue, Don't Look Down, as part of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. The show received the Cincinnati Entertainment Award for Best Alternative Production and a Cincinnati Enquirer Acclaim Award. A second incarnation of the work was presented in 2008 under the title Giving Up Later. Third time’s a charm and he is now working on turning his collection of songs into a full-scale book musical.
In 2006, he introduced himself as a songwriter to the New York community in An Evening of (mostly) True Songs at the Laurie Beechman Theater, featuring the talents of several Broadway performers. Adam attended the Composers Stage Project as part of the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and was regularly mentored by the Tony-nominated Broadway lyricist, Craig Carnelia.
Adam co-produced Broadway for Barack: The Voices of Hope in February 2008 to raise money for then Senator Obama’s primary campaign. Most recently, he held a benefit concert called Oh, Glaucoma! after being diagnosed with advanced juvenile glaucoma in April of 2008.
As an actor, Adam can be seen as Phil in the film Teeth, which premiered at the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals and is now available on DVD. He is a proud union member of Actors’ Equity, has done several sketch comedy shows around NYC and performed at The St. Louis Muny, Ogunquit Playhouse, Grandstreet Theater and Seacoast Repertory Theater.
