Adara Blake was born August 3rd, 1977. She was raised with her 3 brothers in the small town of Sedona, Arizona. Since Adara was a small girl, her mother would sing to her all the classic folk songs. This inspired her to write songs and sing from a very young age. Since Adara can remember, music has been in her heart and driven her spirit.
She began performing as a solo artist in Sedona, Flagstaff, Prescott, Phoenix, and surrounding areas in 1995.
In August 2002 she moved to Portland, Oregon in search of a larger music community.
Adara continued performing as a solo artist as well as joined the female fronted dark rock band Stabitha in April 2003. She was the rhythm guitar player and harmony vocalist for Stabitha for 2 years.
Adara moved on to front her own band Opticollide In the Spring of 2005. In early 2007, Opticollide released their debut album “ELEVEN” . Opticollide’s sound is a melodic, metal edged rock.
In late 2007 Opticollide came to an end. The band members have since gone on to other projects. You can still hear the music and purchase the CD by going to www.myspace/opticollide and clicking on the CDBABY link.
During Adara’s seven years in Portland she had the opportunity to learn how to record and produce her own music as well as a few other local musicians in her small home studio. Delving into the world of recording, opened her up to so many other aspects of music, It really impacted how she thinks about , writes and creates music today.
In the summer of 2009, Adara decided to moved back to her home town of Sedona to reconnect with her singer/songwriter, acoustic roots and to be closer to her family.
Adara is now working on her new solo project. She has switch her backing instrument from guitar to piano. She will be looking to collaborate and possibly put a trio together soon with an acoustic guitar player and percussionist. More details about that will be revealed soon…
Adara has a wide range of interests:
Songwriting, Audio Engineering, Photography, Piano,Guitar, Makeup artistry,
Medieval History, The SCA, clothing/costume design, as well as many other creative projects. She designed and sewed most of the clothing she wore on stage in Opticollide and Stabitha.
I love the creative energy that just exudes from you and your work. YOU inspire!! I am really, really honored to be a part of your creative myspace world. Thank you for leading me here. . . and for all of the wonderful comments. :)
Saw you in Stabitha a few years ago and it was awesome. We are friends with Robin (formerly Crave magazine) I just realized that her new grand daughter has the same first name, as you LOL. Saw your picture on her myspace and had to add you. Glad to see your doing well. Thanks for the add.
As the Hutsul people say in the Mid-Carpathian Highlands (in their own language) 'Let's drink because we can, let's sing because we are drunk, let's dispose of our enemies while we are in such a way that we will not remember that we are responsible for their demise!'
ADara Hope you're well Lady. Looks like we will be up in Portland Thursday March 19th. I listened and loved all the songs you have up. When did you write Sparrows? Say Hi to Toby.
Hope you and your fans enjoy this special poem of mine:
Horizon Beauty
Sunset in the horizon Another day ready for rest Orange light blaze backdrop Silence, beauty, reflections… Before we say goodnight Peace, love breath of fire Has been laid Time to close those warm solemn eyes And with tired lips, kiss the world Good day.
your harmonies w/ chris on the new song "you know why"....so beautiful.....like aural rubbins! and sweet piano work! look forward to all that comes from you in the coming years!
By the way thank you for adding me. You are incredible. I really like your music. You have a great voice. By the way. Really liked the photo of you I noticed on another page. Precipice has such great guitar. I liked the line, just let me fall. Your piano on Patchwork is beautiful. I like the lyrics. Anyways take care, Jere
Hello. Thank for the presence. Beautiful the melodies and the use of dual voice in 'Sparrows' and' Patchwork soul '. Very intense 'Whispers' and' Angel ', good the refrain of' To sleep to dream '. Really compliments for the wonderful voice.
Really like Patchwork Soul! Great sentiment, awesome vocals on the verses mostly the feeling the higher harmony voice gives it, serene melody and love the classic guitar fills. I can also relate to the subject...“makes me who I am today”.
