A Darker Shade of Pagan is an ongoing weekly podcast and streaming
Internet radio show that looks at modern music from a unique spiritual
perspective. The Pagan
perspective. Cutting a wide swathe through several musical genres, the
show takes a look at themes relating to the occult, nature, myth, storytelling,
old gods, mischievous spirits, our ancestors, and the
nature of sacrifice.
The show is hosted by
Jason Pitzl-Waters, a DJ for six years at WEFT
community radio in Champaign, Illinois and a former music columnist
for newWitch magazine.
With a desire to find a deeper (and darker) musical tradition within the
modern Pagan and occult communities and a voracious appetite for vital
threads of underground and independent music the final product exists
in a
liminal state between these two impulses.
Bands that are into: Paganism, the occult, nature, life, sacrifice, ancestors, death, spirits, ghosts, music of the old countryside, myths, stories, different realities, regret, The Wicker Man soundtrack, heartache, ghosts, magic, the ancient world, and unique voices and personalities.
People who: Like to listen to music inspired by the above topics.
"A Darker Shade of Pagan" can be heard every weekday on the Pagan Radio Network. Plus eight hours of The Best of A Darker Shade of Pagan every Friday and Saturday night!
Hi Jason. Our new pastoral psych folk offering is out on 24th June. Its called midummers and is themed around Summer (appropriately enough). If you'd like a copy drop us a line. Cheers, Stephen.
James, you are correct! There must have been a glitch in the uploading. I am currently re-uploading the show. Sorry about that folks, these things happen from time to time.
Just advising, in case no one else has, that the file you've uploaded for the April 5th podcast seems to be incomplete (missing the last eight minutes or so). Thought it was a bit odd that the file was only 46 Mb as opposed to the usual 55 or so.
