Definition of TIP: A tip (or gratuity) is a payment to certain service sector workers beyond the advertised price. The amount of a tip is typically computed as a percent of the transaction minus taxes. These payments and their size are a matter of social custom. Tipping varies among cultures and by service industry. Though by definition a tip is never legally required, and its amount is at the discretion of the person being served, in some circumstances failing to give an adequate tip when one is expected would be considered very miserly, a violation of etiquette, or unethical. In some other cultures or situations, giving a tip is not expected and offering one would be considered condescending or demeaning. In some circumstances (such as tipping government workers), tipping is illegal and considered a bribe. Tipping your tattoo artist is not illegal; it usually makes the tattoo hurt less!!

Jen - Tattoo Artist
My name is Jen. I have been tattooing for about 10 years, 5 of those years were in Lancaster City. I am one of the very first female tattoo artists in the Lancaster County area. I have a received an OSHA certified blood-borne pathogens and infection control certification.
I like doing many different styles of tattoos; including, but not limited to: full bright color, black and gray, old school designs, memorial designs, cover pieces and much, much, more. I love doing custom work, so if you have an idea, I can bring it to life for you.
I am a perfectionist when it comes to my work and I am very passionate about the tattoos I do. Making sure that my clients are 100% fully satisfied. Tattoos last a lifetime, so make sure you come to the shop that gives you the best tattoo experience. I’ve been told that once you get tattooed by me you will never go anywhere else. Come in and see for yourself why we make our customers so happy.
Ness - Apprentice
Vanessa Oster, nicknamed Ness, Manager of Addictive Expressions – Tattooing & Body Piercing, began her tattooing apprenticeship in 2006.
I have always had a love for all types of art which eventually developed into a tattoo apprenticeship after I decided that a career in nursing was not my cup of tea. I continue to work as an Emergency Medical Technician, which comforts our clients who may become ill during their tattoo or piercing. I assisted in the opening of Addictive Expressions in 2007. My main goal is to provide a friendly, professional, custom, studio environment that is unlike most other tattoo shops. My apprenticeship has been nothing of short, and I feel that this will make me be the most prepared and experienced apprentice in the area. I’m always excited to work with you to create the quality artwork that people have come to expect from Addictive Expressions.

For those would like to know a bit more about me
I became close friends with Jen, the owner of Addictive Expressions, prior to her owning the studio. I can remember the day that she let me tattoo stick figures on her for fun, she seemed very amazed, and believed that I would make a great tattoo artist. I believe that was the day that changed my life. Before then, I never seriously considered tattooing, but the door was left opened and of course my curiosity lead me to see what was on the other side.
I’m still in my apprenticeship. I’ve been taking time to draw custom tattoos and watching over Jen’s shoulder, asking questions and taking in all the knowledge that I possibly can. This is a learning experience and I want to be the best out there. I will continue to be putting my knowledge and skills to work.
I truly believe that I am on the path that was created for me and will continue to live this wonderful dream, making the best of it for myself and every client that walks into our doors at Addictive Expressions.
