Address Unknown is goth rock in the reptile house, carrying the torch into the modern age. The band's main influence is The Sisters of Mercy, from the sacred First And Last And Always to The Reptile House E.P. and various singles. The Mission are not far behind with an overdose of God's Own Medicine, and Fields of the Nephilim are next with a straight shot of Dawnrazor and The Nephilim. Address Unknown is often compared with the three, but still posses their own unique sound. The music is guided by a seductive voice, one that changes from a deep, gravelly timbre to a smooth, smoky whisper. The guitars cut like a knife above the timbre of pulsating bass lines, accompanied by tight drum machine rhythms and immensely personal lyrics. When everything comes together, Address Unknown creates goth rock anthems. This is a new kind of drug... and once you're addicted, there's no coming down.
Address Unknown emerged in 2006, forming out of a passion for gothic rock. Edward (vocals, guitars) and Elizabeth (bass) immediately began creating music, and soon released Crucified, a six track MCD. It was extremely well-received, and encouraged by unanimous praise, the full-length Communion followed shortly after. The band's second album Trinity was released in mid-2009, and saw the band refine their sound, creating guitar anthems reminiscent of (The Sisters of Mercy album) Vision Thing.
Address Unknown is currently working on A New Kind of Drug, an E.P. scheduled for December 2009. Another E.P. has been planned for 2010, entitled Body, Soul and Mind.
The band has thrived on an independent philosophy from the beginning, leaving absolutely everything up to its members. All music is written, recorded and produced on a home computer, without the aid of expensive software or studio equipment. The music is, after all, what matters, and Address Unknown's passion runs far deeper than its limitations.
Fans across the world are eager to see Address Unknown live. Currently, no such plans exist. But they cannot stay out of sight forever. This is one band that belongs on stage, covered in a thick cloud of dry ice and cigarette smoke. There are many that share this vision. In the meantime, Address Unknown will continue to infect the underground goth rock scene. They recently appeared in Germany's Gothic magazine.
Currently, Address Unknown's releases are available only as downloads, and are sold exclusively through Raven's Flight Records' PayPal store. Merchandise is available through Cafepress. Both stores can be found below.
Just want to say that your new cover version of SISTERS's "Train" is really amazing! I like the way you sing....The bass sounds great too... An old favourite sounds very fresh again!
Nice one Edward! - just try not to get too Eldritch though, apparently he sold Patricia Morrison for about 13 camels - Elizabeth should be worth far more.
Great Train cover Address...as are Exodus and Flight Of The Raven.
I still can't seem to get into the totally croaky stuff though (sorry Edward) - but that's me for you - as my dear old mother used to say "Get out of this house you croaky-hating twat, stop wasting our oxygen".
