You wouldn’t know it from looking at her, but Adele Jacques is from France. Unlike most of her Gallic brethren, she tends to smile a lot, and this, in turn, tends to light up the room. A professional actress and singer in her native Paris, Adele moved to the States three years ago, and has lit up many rooms along the way.
Her band, BEL-AIR, was a steady mainstay of the Parisian Music Scene in the late 90’s, but it wasn’t until 2000, after a gig at The Knitting Factory in New York City, that Adele found her photograph on the front page of The New York Times Entertainment Section the very next morning. “Hmm,” she remembers saying to herself. “Peut-etre ça va marcher.”
Since then, Adele has collaborated with many diverse and accomplished musicians, both in New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, and has continued to create her own, unique brand of melodic, dream-pop lullabies. She sings in both English and French. She writes about water, mermaids, movement and dreams, love and truth, and having sex on TV.
