From Morocco to England and ending up in Sweden. From the 80’s sound to house and ending up by playing progressive house. Lots of people ask me what type of dj Deekster is ?
Well the answer is a dj that is interested in dance music and the way it has been growing.
1993 was a major year for DeekSter as he got to live in London, the mother city of dance music. He got to learn to love every genre of it .
” It is a fucking buzz to see how the beat can move people. How it makes people smile and enjoy the time they are in a club”
Back in London DeekSter started to play speed garage. A style that had a huge impact, Tracks like: It ’s a London thing, Rip groove was a major track in his life.
One of the clubs that was huge at that time was Club Slap Harry’s, a huge place where he used to play speed garage every Thursday night for 2 years.
1997 He moved to Sweden. Dance music there is way different from the UK. The only music that had a huge impact at that time was trance. Deekster got to adapt to his new environment. Digging deep down into Trance music. Luckily he had a few friends from Holland that had the label Black Hole Recordings who helped with all the new promos. (Today these guys are running Flamengo Recordings).
He got a recidency in a club called Såciten , Friday and Saturday night. A place that held 500 people.
At the same time he played in different places, clubs like Havana, Harry’s……
Year 2006 Deekster got involved in helping out spreading dance music via an internet radio back in Morocco. He used to be part of Marruechouse . Playing Electro house and minimal. Every Wednesday he would be live from Sweden playing from 22.00 to 24:00.
As his love for mimimal style got bigger and bigger , he started his own show called Transition Into Sound. Bringing the latest track in minimal music. A style that is big now and has been pushed by djs like Amine.K froms Meds Agency.
2007 was a year of his first official release. Soulheat Records, a label wich is based in Brussels. A label wich is run by the talented U-ness and Jedset. They asked if he could mix a compilation for the label. This was a huge break in his life as the compilation wich is called Soul heat Summer Sun Session got released. A soulful house compilation that brought together the best tracks that Soulheat records had to offer.
This was released on major internet record shops. Beatport, Armada, Stompy , Ministry of Sound and many more.
Another break was to be invited by the label to host his charts at Beatport .
DeeKSter was featured on the well known dj internet radio Proton radion. He got to be chosen to be one of the few djs that got to play in a show called Bedroom Bedlam which is the name of the annual underexposed dj contest put forth by the now defunct and out of print MusiK Magazine. The show exposed the likes of Steve Gerrard and James Zabiela.
Today Deekster is working on his own production. Plus a monthly residency in a club in Sweden called the lounge.
