A. Dion "Tha Producer" aka Adrian Dion is a member of the Kickapoo/Seminole and Mexican Nations. He was born in Lawton Oklahoma, and raised by his mother in
Kansas City, Kansas. He began singing dancing at a very early age. "One of the earliest memories I have is being at some Powwow in Oklahoma with this guy Sterling and
having no outfit, bustles, or beadwork, but still going out there and dancing." Singing soon followed as Adrian moved with his mother in KCK and began life in the Urbaness of an area of Kansas City known as "Central". Being submerged in a community primarily made up of Blacks and Latinos, the urge to dance still resided in the young to be producer one day. "Breakdancing", as it was known back in the day, was becoming very popular at the time, and being that powwows were very few and far beyond in the inner City, Breakdancing it was. In addition to that, Adrian would spark his interest with his mothers old vynl collection and 45's. "DJ" was the name of the game, and sitting there listing to the classics of Motown, Sade, Grand Funk Railroad, Frankie Limon, George Jones, not to mention the occassional "Mexican" record from his grandmother or aunties, he began developing his unique taste for music. This lead to summer camp thru the Heart of America Indian Center, where he learned to sing Powwow style songs, and soon joined Eagle Talon Brotherhood. The Brotherhood tought a young boy about the ways of the arena, Gourd Dance, Stomp Dance, among other tradtional theachings.
With all that behind him, now, and as an original member of the Grammy and Nammy Winning Drum Group "Tha Tribe", A. Dion decided to make music a carreer as well as a way of LIFE.
You can hear A. Dion's music from film and Television(Moccasin Flats, Karha:kon, Kaduku Clothing Co.) to Live Theatre(Kanata Native Dance Theatre's Presentation of "The PeaceMaker"), Powwow and Flute Music(Mastered "Raining Thunder" and "IronBoy" for DrumHop Records) Sang and composed on Stoney Creek-Powwow Trail Blazin “2008”,"Tha Tribe-T2K and "Live' from Tornado Alley), HipHop and R&B, (Shea Keck, NSpire, Doc Twist, Mike Jonez, CANAB winner JEEX,) among other projects soon to be out.
Once told that he was "Too Mainstream for Native Music", this trendsetter and trailblazer could possibly be the "Most Known Unkown" you've never ever heard of. You betta ask somebody!
