Songs From Your
Dog's Perspective!
This is a project of Musicians for a Cause and a portion of the profits are donated to national non-profit organizations that support local animal welfare activities. The remainder supports the mission of Musicians for a Cause.
This CD is dedicated to all who work in support of animal welfare.
Each song was inspired by one of our very talented canine friends. A few of them actually wrote the songs too but I had to fill out the copyright forms because they don't have checking accounts.
Capo pawed bass guitar on all songs with expert mentoring from Mark Battaglia while Lady did all the harmonies. She did an awesome job, and many thanks to Sue Van Ham who was her vocal coach.
Dexter handled all the mixing and added some really cool high notes that I'll never hear, while Ruby did all the make-up for the CD cover photo shoot... she's a real pro!
Charlie had the ruff job of keeping everyone in line to meet our production schedule and Taylor designed and sewed new scarfs for everyone.
Kansas kept everyone laughing and was the class clown making Toto jokes about Taylor (they all found it hilarious) and Rufus was invaluable in making all the treat and beer runs!
Here are all the writing credits:
1. You've Been Cheatin' On Me - Story suggested by 'Lady' after her master came home from another 'Lady's' house!
2. A Dog'z Lyfe - Written by ‘Charlie' who often wonders what it would be like to trade places…but using a toilet? No way!
3. Take Me For A Walk - Inspired by ‘Taylor', who after years of learning, felt it was his turn to teach… after all, he had his Masters’ degree!
4. Poop Poop Pee Chew – “That’s all I Do!” said 'Dexter', the new puppy… need I say more???
5. Livin' In The Street - This story was from an old newspaper article on how a determined young boy saved a dog's life. We never knew their names, but it happened somewhere in 'Kansas'.
6. Best Friend - Dedicated to ‘Ruby' who desperately wanted to give a present to her master for Christmas! A true love story!
7. Bells Are Everywhere - From a story sent in by ‘Capo', who, unfortunately, was trained to come and eat when the bell rang! He put on a few pounds at Christmas, but then who doesn’t?
8. The Dog's First Christmas - Actually it was his second, but it was the first that 'Rufus' was old enough to remember. Guess what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas!!!
If your dog has a song and needs help please feel free to send me a note!

I have to admit that I'm fairly new to being a dog lover. I wasn't crazy about
getting one but my girlfriend, Sue, was patiently persistent and searched the
internet for over a year - looking all over the United States and South America - until she finally she found 'Taylor', 45 minutes from our home, waiting to be adopted from a shelter.
I was a bit skeptical at
first but fell in love on the drive home! I brought a little pillow and blanket
and he just sat in my lap the whole time, looking at me with an occasional
'thank you' glance. Sure there were some training issues in the beginning, but
there was always lots of love. It's been four years now and he's still the best
thing ever!
The life lessons he's
taught us have been invaluable, and even though we can't really communicate, we
can. Check out 'Take Me For A Walk' and you'll know what I mean!
Now I'm hooked and I have
to stop and say hello to every dog I meet. They're all so open to making new
friends, both with me and with Taylor, although if Taylor isn't with me I think
he gets a bit jealous! (see 'You've Been Cheatin' On Me'!)
The songs on 'A Dog's Lyfe'
evolved from recognizing those times when our canine friends have something
compelling to say and need a little help to find their voice... OK, maybe I took
it a step further than what they actually said in a few situations, but it's all
in good fun!
They all have their
own personalities too... some are very
sincere :-} have a great sense of humor ;-0 can be playfully vindictive ;-) or even a little indifferent :-|. ...just
like the rest of us!
Please have a listen
and get to know the extended family! If you like the songs, you can buy a copy

Feel free to add a picture of your family member
