Wings of Hope for Adolescent Thyroid Awareness is a non-profit organization. I started this organization in 10/2006 and so far the amount of support I have gotten is amazing. Our goal at the moment is to help those in financial need to help pay for their medical bills, the ones who slip through the cracks - can't work or go to school because of this and don't qualify for social security or government help. We will only pay directly to their doctors. So all money raised will be used to go towards that and keeping us going! My Bio: My name is Maggie, I am almost 23. I was given Radioactive Iodine the day of my 18th birthday to treat my Grave's disease. And not having anyone else I could talk to my age about this was the hardest thing, especially since I was to old for children's doctors but still really to young for adult doctors. I have been fortunate enough to have two wonderful doctors, and unfortunate to have had about 5 bad doctors. After 4 years of struggling with this disease I have decided that maybe this is happening to me for a reason, and that is for me to help others so that they don't have to go through this without having someone to talk to who understands what they are going through. Since being diagnosed I haved learned alot and grown alot, I used to wonder why I had to go through this, but now I truly believe it has all happened for a reason We do not have our tax exemption 501c yet, but because of the amount of money we make per year we are considered 501c tax exempt (I know it's confussing) but we are trying to raise money to become permanently tax exempt for the future. It of course along with everything else requires money, and this organization is run off of my own spare money and people dontations so please help support us!
