About me:
My husband Graham and I live in Melbourne, Australia with our two children, Jack, 6 and Poppy, 3.
Graham was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) on the 13th April 2007.
He successfully weathered two cycles of chemotherapy and was in remission until Wednsday 30th January 2008.
Because of the genetic type of his disease, he is unlikely to be cured by chemotherapy alone, which is evidenced by his recent relapse.
The only real chance of a cure was to have a Bone Marrow Transplant.
Unfortunately, as Graham is adopted, he doesn't have a donor for him so the Red Cross here in Australia searched the Bone Marrow Registries worldwide to find a match.
Graham has a rare tissue type and a match was not found.
He travelled to the USA from his home in Melbourne, Australia and on the 7th August 2008, Graham was the 8th person in the world to have a transplant from stem cells grown in the laboratory.
The total cost of the treatment was $900,000 and we are fundraising to cover this cost
