When in recenent years a rock-a-billy production caught the attention of a major record company or the broad public –Adriano BaTolba has been involved in the making of it, wether as a performer, guitarist, composer or producer. Late in 2002 his collaboration with German pop singer Sasha led to the forming of the Band Dick Brave and the Backbeats. Their debut 'Dick This', co-produced by BaTolba, sold close to half a million records in Germany alone - earning it gold and multiplatinum status and Adriano an Echo Award. It also topped the charts in 2004. After the success of „Dick this“ Adriano, together with longtime friend and colleague Pomez diLorenzo, was asked to produce the record „Bop Around The Pop“ for the band Boppin..B. This record also cracked the German top 40. After the release of a live DVD ,which again was produced by BaTolba, and having played almost every major festival, venue and TV Show in Germany, Dick Brave and the Backbeats took a break at the end of 2004.

In 2005 rock..n..roll veteran Peter Kraus decided to return to his roots and tour again with a rock..n..roll band. The logical choice for lead guitarist was of course Adriano BaTolba, who became a featured guest of the touring band and has remained so until the present. Adriano's distinctive licks can be heard on Kraus.. 2006 record ..I Love Rock..n..Roll.. and the DVD «Rock..n..Roll is Back» In 2007 Boppin.. B. called upon Lorenzo and BaTolba for a second time as producers of their critically acclaimed record „Rock..n..Roll Radio“ which also featured three songs written by BaTolba and Lorenzo. 2008 brought BaTolba another 30 city tour with Peter Kraus along with countless appearances with the Backbeat Trio (the core of the Backbeats) and a hot rocking lady – Peggy Sugarhill .

In the same year, Adriano was invited to share his expertize during the production of the debut record of a new Rock 'n' Roll outfit called 'The Baseballs'. The single «Umbrella», released on the Warner Bros. Label hit the German pop charts by the spring of 2009.

Around this time representatives of the Gretsch Guitar Company suggested the idea of Adriano appearing at the Frankfurt Music Fair backed by a Big Band to promote some of the company’s products – guitars naturally!. This was the chance BaTolba had been waiting for all along. Through his work as a performer and record producer he had rubbed shoulders with a lot of skillful brass-players and with a few phone calls, got hold of some of the heaviest cats on the scene.

Thus the Adriano BaTolba Orchestra was born!. The first session yielded three original tunes (once again written and produced by BaTolba and Lorenzo), which sound as rocking and fresh as they come. A big credit goes to arranger Florian Ross who had an instinctive understanding of the sound this particular band demanded and managed to fuse seamlessly the different elements of Rock-a-billy, jazz and jive in his arrangements. Reactions by fellow musicians and critics alike were enthusiastic leading to one of Germany’s most popular TV hosts Reinhold Beckmann referring in his show to Adriano as Germany’s Rock-a-billy guitarist number one!

So here it is: A –lucky number – thirteen piece hard driving, jumping and grooving Rock-a-billy big band that will rock your feet off and keep you shaking on the dance floor till the cats come home… The Adriano BaTolba Orchestra – will get the house rockin. Nuff said!!!!

Wann immer in den letzten Jahren eine Produktion im Rockabilly-Stil für Furore bei Plattenfirmen und Fans sorgte – Adriano BaTolba war dabei, ob als Sänger und Gitarrist, Komponist oder Produzent. TV-Moderator Reinhold Beckmann nannte BaTolba in seiner wöchentlichen Talkshow „Deutschlands Rockabilly-Gitarristen Nummer Eins“.

Der erste große Erfolg kam im Jahr 2002, als BaTolbas Zusammenarbeit mit dem Popstar Sasha zur Gründung der Band „Dick Brave and the Backbeats“ führte. Ihr Debütalbum „Dick This“, koproduziert von BaTolba, verkaufte knapp eine halbe Million Exemplare alleine in Deutschland und brachte den Musikern Gold, Doppelplatin und eine „Echo“-Auszeichnung für Adriano ein. 2004 stand das Album an der Spitze der deutschen Charts. Nach der Veröffentlichung einer Live-DVD, wiederum von BaTolba produziert, und Auftritten bei allen großen Festivals und TV-Shows legten „Dick Brave and the Backbeats“ Ende 2004 eine Pause ein.

Zusammen mit Pomez diLorenzo produzierte Adriano außerdem das Album „Bop Around The Pop“ für die Band „Boppin B.“ Auch dieses Album schaffte es in die Top 40 der Charts.

Im Jahr 2005 besann sich Rock’n’Roll-Veteran Peter Kraus auf seine Wurzeln und entschloss sich, wieder mit einer klassischen Rock’n’Roll-Band auf Tournee zu gehen. Die logische Wahl des Lead-Gitarristen fiel auf Adriano BaTolba, der seitdem ein Feature-Gast der Band geworden ist. Seine unverkennbaren Licks sind auf der 2006 erschienenen Kraus-CD „I Love Rock..n..Roll“ und der DVD „Rock..n..Roll is back“ hören.

2007 erschien ein weiteres Album der Band „Boppin B.“, produziert von BaTolba und diLorenzo. Auf dem von Kritikern hoch gelobten Album „Rock..n..Roll Radio“ sind auch drei Kompositionen der Produzenten zu hören, die hiermit ihre Qualitäten als Songwriter unter Beweis stellen konnten. 2008 folgten erneut eine 30 Städte-Tournee mit Peter Kraus, sowie zahllose Auftritte mit dem Backbeat Trio (dem Kern der Backbeats) und mit Peggy Sugarhill – einer wild rockenden Lady mit energiegeladener Bühnenshow.

Im selben Jahr griff die neue Rock’n’Roll-Formation Baseballs bei der Produktion ihres Debütalbums auf Adrianos Erfahrung zurück und verpflichtete ihn für eine Session. Die Single „Umbrella“ schaffte es im Frühjahr 2009 in die deutschen Top 40.

Zu dieser Zeit entstand bei der Gretsch Guitar Company die Idee, anlässlich der Frankfurter Musikmesse einen Auftritt von Adriano zusammen mit einer Big Band zu organisieren. Das war der Moment auf den BaTolba gewartet hatte: Durch seine Arbeit als Produzent und Performer hatte er schon Seite an Seite mit Musikern der versiertesten Bläsersections des Landes gearbeitet, und so waren nur ein paar Anrufe nötig, um Mitmusiker für das Projekt zu begeistern. Dies war die Geburtstunde des „Adriano BaTolba Orchestra“. Die erste Aufnahmesession lieferte drei brandneue Songs (wiederum von BaTolba und diLorenzo komponiert und produziert), die durch ihre Frische und Virtuosität bestechen. Großen Anteil am Erfolg des Projekts trägt auch Arrangeur Florian Ross, dem es gelang, einen scheinbar mühelosen Mix von Rockabilly, Jazz und Jive in seinen Arrangements umzusetzen. Erste Reaktionen von Musikern und Kritikern waren enthusiastisch.

Hier ist sie nun also: eine 13-köpfige, energie-turbogeladene Rockabilly Big Band, die die Tanzfläche zum Beben bringt und ganz sicher jedes Paar Schuhsohlen durchrocken wird...
