I love honesty, integrity, loyalty, passion, strength, vibrancy, intelligence, compassion, openness and people who make me laugh. I love to be surrounded by people who bring out the best in me, challenge me to push harder, and make my journey through life that much more interesting. I love new places, new people and I love keeping those I love close to me and make it a point to let anyone I value know that they mean the world to me.
I'm lucky to be working in 'the industry', as I love acting, performing, communicating and coordinating with teams of such talented creative people that inspire me. Its been a great journey so far....and I'm excited to see where it will lead and what new projects are just around the corner. Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and my career - your enthusiasm and support are appreciated more than you know! Many of you know I'm also a dancer. I still love to shake my groove thing whenever I have the chance and I hope one day to use those skills on screen. I also sing (thank you to the many people who have encouraged me) and this year marks the first time I've sung professionally. Check out the music player above to hear "My Own Little World" the theme song I recorded for the film REFLECTIONS.
Fun Facts: I love thunderstorms, long hot bubble baths, dancing, vanilla, gardenia and jasmine candles and lotions, NPR (This American Life and Fresh Air amongst other shows), cinnamon gum, live music, live theater, watching any performers that inspire me, laughing so hard I'm crying, traveling to new places, eating delicious new food, yummy dessert, hot cocoa, chai, tea and cider, fabulous clothes, fantastic shoes, chocolate, curling up by a fireplace with a good book while its raining outside, hiking, seeing new places and hanging out with the people I love.
Music
I LOVE music. Have it on almost all the time. It's a constant source of motivation, inspiration and therapy for any mood. I truly love a mix of everything. My ipod will shuffle from r&b, to country, to rock to pop, rap, jazz, classical, hip hop, alternative and everything in between....it all depends on my mood. There's a time and place where almost anything can fit. I love live music...nothing is better than getting swept away in a performance. Really watching an artist at their best...is amazing.
My current fav's of the moment include...Imogene Heap, Damien Rice, David Gray, Zero 7....
I have some great artist friends listed in my top friends list - and check out my youngest sister Aimee Wilkinson who is putting together her first album. I love her stuff and I hope you do too!
Movies
I love movies. I love the classics -like The Philadelphia Story, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Cat on a Hot tin Roof, Bringing Up Baby many more from the golden era of film. And it seems like every year I add to that list with new films from every genre. My favorite movie as a kid was the musical Annie. Saw that like 200 times.
Television
Basically any HBO original programming (True Blood, Big Love, In Treatment, Flight of the Conchords, Extra's, Soprano's, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, etc) and Some Showtime Fav's (Dexter, The Tudors, United States of Tara, Nurse Jackie) and when I have time some other fav's are: Damages, Glee, Life, Lost, So You Think You Can Dance, How I met your mother, The Dog Whisperer, Dangerous Catch, Project Runway, The Office, House... There's a ton of crap on tv to be avoided, but there are some absolute gems that shouldn't be missed too!
Books
I read constantly. I have several bookshelves in my house and all are overflowing with the books I have loved enough that I had to keep a copy. Some favorites include: Toni Morrison, Hemmingway, early Anne Rice, Phillipa Gregory, Harold Robbins, Dennis Lehane and probably about 100 more. I also love biographies and have been on a tangent with those lately. Some favorite books of all time: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll..... And anything that makes me think, and laugh and brings me knowledge of new worlds.
Heroes
My sister. She is smart, beautiful, gifted and the strongest person I know who can manifest amazing things in life, and shows me that it can be done.
My friends impress me everyday by how incredible they are.
I'm inspired by any woman- or man for that matter-that can juggle it all- career, family, self, life, happiness with grace. People who prioritize and honor themselves and those around them through what they do every day. In awe of people who truly seem to have found their calling in life like: Lisa Ling, Anderson Cooper,Terry Gross, J.k. Rowling, Cesar Milan, and the biggies like Nelson Mandela etc. Amazed by anyone who overcomes an intense struggle and rises to the top.
And I am constantly inspired by actors and artists who move me...make me laugh, cry, scream....the ones that truly engage me in their performances every time. And to borrow a bit of wisdom from my friend Joy - I hope to look back on my life in 50 years and find that I was my own hero. Beautiful thought, eh?
