Known variously as the "Advocacy Guru," the "Engagist," and just plain Stephanie (although never Steph), I have a wide range of personal and professional interests. The three biggest things to know about me?
#1: I am the founding partner of a business called Advocacy Associates, where I manage speaking and training programs. We help individuals and organizations understand how to communicate with elected officials, starting from the somewhat controversial pespective that government ISN'T broken. In fact, it's designed to be totally inefficient -- does a pretty good job, right? Learn about that aspect of my life at Advocacy Guru.com
#2: I'm writing a book titled "E-Scapism: We're Not Tuning Out, We're Plugging In," which redefines the use of electronics as a constructive way to control how we spend our time so that it is personally meaningful, productive and enjoyable. In other words, society is not falling apart while we fiddle with the volume on our iPods. In fact, people are using technological devices and social networks to connect in whole new ways. #3: As much as I enjoy my work, I enjoy my home life as well. My husband and I spend plenty of time traveling to exotic locations, dining out with friends, or even just loafinf around watching television.
