Aerias - Pronounced "Air e us." The name is combined from two words: Arias, an elaborate melody sang by one voice and Aeries, a birds nest on a cliff or a mountaintop. The band liked these two ideas and put them together adopting the bird as their logo. Guitarist, Blake Johnson, Guitarist Cole Robison and Drummer, Grant Robinson began playing together in late 2006 and decided to form Aerias to explore new musical directions. They formed Aerias in Dothan, Alabama in August 2007, eventually adding Bassist Derek Johnson and Frontman, Blake Cody . They set out to craft their own songs combining elements of metal, rock, pop, and even jazz! Three lead singers and five bass players later they have found the perfect fit in 5 friends who share a passion for music and enjoy hanging out together. I started singing with my church at the age of 10. I was in several bands through out High School. My musical influences are Peter Gabriel, Peter Frampton, and U2. After High School I moved to Hollywood California where I worked with several bands in the studio learning the ins and outs of the musical industry. I Came back taking time off to work and writing before meeting up and joining Aerias. I can not wait for the masses to hear the music we create. Derek.... Going on six years now I have dedicated my heart and mind to the intricacies of my instrument. Diligent studying has helped me develop a webbed background of rock, funk, and jazz with the groove always taking the forefront. Meshing elements from the greats such as John Entwistle with modern bass styles such as P-Nut; I strive to lock and control the groove with the drummer on every beat. Grant.... I started playing drums when I was 5 years old and I've had really great teachers, including two jazz legends. My musical influences are jazz, rock, latin and funk. I play drums and keyboards, along with vocals and synth programming. My dream is to play music that is unique and memorable. The best music is "A conversation without words!" Cole.... I started playing guitar when I was 11 years old. My influences are classic & modern rock, metal, and some pop. I play guitar, drums, keyboards and sing. My dream is to make a living playing music. Blake.... I started playing guitar when I was 13 years old, my musical influences are rock, metal, classic rock and yes even some country. I also play drums and sing. My dream ever since I picked up a guitar has been to play my very best for as many people as possible
