GENERAL "Postseason's nice 'cos it's all flowers and birdies, tweet tweet tweet, but once October comes, noone cares about that crap!"
The hell with football-- ARE YOU READY FOR SOME BASEBALL?
I can't even begin to tell you how proud I was that day my Angels swept the series in 2002!
Star Wars, Aerosmith, Harry Potter, Irish Dance, writing, baseball (ANAHEIM ANGELS!!!!!!), Phantom of the Opera, the ocean/ beach, animals (my favorite animal is the lion! :D)..... I love movies, especially horror movies. I love the outdoors: camping, everything! I am a HUGE sucker for anything Disney. After growing up a half-hour's drive from Disneyland in SoCal, it is no wonder why the park and the movies have always had such special meaning for me. They touch my very heart and soul, bring me comfort and fill me with such joy as to where I might burst! :D I also love the paranormal.... I do indeed believe in ghosts because I myself have heard what I believe was a spirit, going thru my friend's kitchen one afternoon (ask me about Max).
Music
MUSIC "Music is worthless unless it can make a complete stranger break down and cry." ~~from 'The Dumbing Down of Love' by Frou Frou
The first thing you need to know about me as far as music is concerned is that Aerosmith is the greatest band in existence. Period. Ask anybody who knows me and they'll be able to tell you how in love with them I really am. I adore them with every fiber of my being and, I swear to God, I wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for them. I love them more than words can say. As of the 2007 new year I have been to five concerts and plan on going to many more.
1. Aug. 28, 2001 -- San Antonio, TX
2. Oct. 28, 2002 -- San Antonio, TX
3. Mar. 19, 2004 -- Little Rock, AR
4. Jan. 25, 2006 -- San Antonio, TX
5. Nov. 17, 2006 -- San Antonio, TX
I have a couple other bands that I include in the ranks of "Favorite Band(s)," although obviously Aerosmith takes first reign. I am crazy-mad-insane about the Dresden Dolls and Creature Feature, and I swear I am becoming OBSESSED! with Muse. God, they make me so f**king happy. Not since Aerosmith (or that one Creature Feature concert) have I had to change my undies this many times in the span of one album (although Matthew Bellamy's voice alone is enough to send me over the edge). To quote a very popular book (whose author happens to be a die-hard Muse fan to the death), they are "my own personal brand of heroin."
Oh, and by the way, my favorite singer is Imogen Heap. She is GORGEOUS. :D :D :D
I also love to listen to Ladysmith Black Mambazo, One Republic, Rob Dougan, Paul Simon, Celtic Woman, the Scissor Sisters, Imogen Heap/ Frou Frou, Queen, Beach Boys, Moby, Frank Sinatra, Train/ Pat Monahan, Peter Gabriel, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, 30 Seconds to Mars, Coldplay, Regina Spektor, Interpol, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong.... basically rock'n'roll's my favorite, although I also ADORE dixieland jazz, like Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, etc. Big Band music from WW2 era is also fantastic! I love classical music, too. Beethoven is my favorite composer. I can't stand country music and I HATE rap/hip-hop/"gangsta" music. YUCK. My two favorite songs of all time are "When You Wish Upon A Star" (from Pinnochio) and "Music of the Night," from the Phantom of the Opera. Satchmo is THE MAN! My kinda music, right here: Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic (Live) .. ..
Movies
MOVIES Horror movies are the best, by the way. Hands down! :D
My absolute favorite actor in the existence of movies beyond any shadow of a doubt is Gary Oldman. I've been in love with him since I was fourteen, and he makes me sooooooo happy! It's amazing how much of a chameleon he is; he can disappear into any character, any role. One of my favorite roles he's done was in Dracula; he even played my favorite character in the Harry Potter movies, Sirius Black! And be sure to check him out as Comissioner Gordon in the new Batman flicks, "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight!"
********** What can I say? I've always had a thing for older men. Especially THIS older man, Jeffrey Combs. He makes me insanely happy, too. I love you, Mr. Combs! :D
**********
Here are two lists; the first is a compilation of as many of my favorite movies as I could remember, the second being of actors and actresses I love and adore. If you have any questions, please ask. Ha!! :D
TELEVISION
TruBlood, Burn Notice, all three Law & Order series, Lost, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Paranormal State, Ghost Hunters, Psychic Kids, CSI Miami, forensic shows (Cold Case Files, American Justice, etc), No Reservations w/ Tony Bourdain, Samantha Brown's travel shows, Bizarre Foods w/ Andrew Zimmern, So You Think You Can Dance, and watching Simon mock bad tryouts on American Idol, then watching said bad tryouts have shitfits.
Books
BOOKS "The simplicity of uneven black on faded white is enough to ignite the soul and dare the brush to keep pace. Pages worn, edges torn, as cared for as the broken spine of the stories we know all too well, we cling to them like child to mother, looking to them for guidance and shelter from the storm outside. It is within the arms of those pages we find peace."
Series books: Harry Potter, Twilight, Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray (A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing)
Other: ANYthing by HP Lovecraft or Richard Matheson!

About me: ABOUT ME "Some say that as we grow up, we become different people at different ages, but I don't believe this. I think we remain the same, merely passing from one room to another, but always in the same house. If we unlock the rooms, we can look in and see ourselves beginning to become you and me." ~~From the 1960 stage play 'Peter Pan' ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
My name is Virginia, and I was born on a Saturday night in Southern California. I am a preschool teacher and a certified Medical Assistant, although my true passion is to become a special effects makeup artist. I've done some work in a few local productions as a makeup artist, a wardrobe co-ordinator, a boom operator and an extra, and I'm not truly happy unless on a film set. I'm not all to keen on what it is that draws me to wanting to making fake blood and guts and hearts, but I love it.
I'm a bit of an odd duck. Ask anybody who knows me. Some things I enjoy or that describe me are as follows:
~ Zombies
~ Vampires
~ Mad Scientists/Doctors
~ Squibs
~ Scooping fake brains out of a bathtub at two in the morning
~ Anything involving fake gore, for that matter
~ Barbecue
~ Reading/writing.... I can't live without my words
~ I'm kindof a tomboy
~ Chocolate
~ the Pacific ocean
~ Root Beer
~ Serenading my steering wheel (and any unsuspecting person in the passenger seat/ car next to me)
~ Movies in general, but to be more specific......
~ Scary movies
~ Gross movies
~ Midnight movies
~ Zombie movies
~ Vampire movies
~ Campy B-flicks from the '60s & '70s (you should go see "Black Sister's Revenge")
~ Old B&W flicks (favorites: "Arsenic & Old Lace" and "Mildred Pierce")
~ Any film involving Gary Oldman, Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Campbell, Udo Kier, or any combination therein
~ Johnny Depp and Edward Norton, too, come to think of it. :P
~ Civil War/Victorian-era clothing
~ Rocking out to Imogen Heap
~ Penguins
~ Reading anything by HP Lovecraft and Richard Matheson
~ My Miskatonic University sweatshirt
~ Wearing my Miskatonic Univ. sweatshirt, getting student discounts at the theater and telling the lady selling me my coke that I'm in pre-med and that my lab partner is out of his f**kin' tree ("He killed his roommate's cat! OMFG!!!")
~ Curling up in my own bed with a good book or my favorite TV show/movie after a long day
~ Irish music/dancing/culture/whiskey
~ Traveling
~ The Travel Channel (when I can't actually leave my house, ha!)
~ Thunder/rainstorms
~ The way the earth smells after said storm
~ Lions
~ The sound of a train going by
~ Paranormal shows (TAPS, Paranormal State, Psychic Kids, etc.... Chip Coffey, you are AMAZING!)
~ The feeling of the sand between my toes, ocean over my feet and sun/breeze on my face as well as the smell of the saltwater and the sound of the waves on the shore
~ Politically incorect/ naughty humor
~ Rock 'n' roll (the classics, please-- specifically, Aerosmith)
Also, speaking of the flick Mildred Pierce, did you know that my grandmother (dad's mom) and Zachary Scott (bigtime star of the '40s and star of Mildred Pierce) were high school sweethearts and even dated after HS, too? :P She even dated Ronald Reagan (pre-actor and pre-president, of course) at one point. :P I have pics of her in my Family Photos album!
There is so much more, but for now, this is all I can think of.
P.S. I absolutely adore reading Rue Morgue and Fangoria. If you're a guy reading either of those, then pick me up at my place at 8pm on Saturday night. ;D hehehe!
Hey! Sorry for the late reply, I've been so distracted! You wanna hang out maybe this week or weekend? I have some wicked awesome video games and dvds, we could catch up on stuff (I'm still broke, can you tell?). Keep in touch!
hey sweetheart! the Dallas show was amazing, surreal and EPIC! it was my 2nd time seeing them and it still felt like a dream. David i were just standing there in awe! how was yours? i'm sure you felt the same way! me too...i can't wait til Steven gets better! i really hope this wasn't their last tour =(
I had so much fun at the Rocky Horror Show, and since you caught my interest, I was like "YEAH, IMA VIRGIN!" unfortunitly I was sitting too far back to be picked, then in the openning of the song I hear,"F*ck the back row" which is where I was sitting. BOO for that. Still had so much fun that even my son wants to go again.
Hiya!!! Sorry i haven't gave you a message or comment more recently. I've been quite occupied with other things; well mainly studying. Yeah Kinda sucks really. But....
I COULD BE GOING TO ART COLLEGE COME SEPTEMBER!!! *dances about like a little luntic*. Just thought I should let you know. Hope things are going well for you too.
I've mainly been buying, baking and breaking this summner. And I'm going to be going to germany with some friends to an industrial music festival. Should be great!
Anyway. That's most of my life in a nutshell.
All the best, love in baskets! LHR, Clare Saunders x
Hi. Just wanted to let you know that my owner has a new middle grade novel out called "Celeste and the Giant Hamster." Celeste is a cat. You'll never guess what the giant hamster is! (Hint: modeled after me!) Check it out on amazon.com.
There's a link on my home page to the book on Amazon.
It'd be great if all my friends would read the book. It's for 3-6th grades but enjoyable by adults too.
Dude, I saw Star Trek last weekend & I thought it was awesome! And a week from now is Terminator Salvation! We gotta catch a flick sometime or shoot some things. Later!
so... some friends of mine are working on a short film... they are doing a scene w/ my friend raising up out of goo. Like slime-goo. Do you have any recommendations for what we can use for the goo?
thought i'd ask...
on other notes - how are you? it's been awhile....
Hell yeah! Congrats! :) Steven Tyler will look at you and decide that maybe its time you guys met... And if he doesn't decide that, he'll still be CHECKING YOU OUT!
