Artie Q's Guide To Moving In LA: A Mover's Tale is a darkly humorous, finger pointing narrative of a furniture mover. An outsider looking in, observing bizarre and irrational behavior on moving day. It's scary and it's a hoot.

Now available: "An Ocean Of Dreams" by Mindmovie
Please take your time to check out this beautiful solo album by my dear friend Mindmovie, who I met on MI7 and myspace.

+++ OTHER PEOPLE'S MUSIC +++
Below I want to present you here some albums I purchased recently and that made a lasting impression on me. I invite you to explore this music, and buy the albums from these remarkable artists.
To keep the list at a reasonable size, I have moved albums that featured here for some time to a new photo album called "Recommended Music Albums". All the albums in that album have been tagged to the corresponding myspace pages for your convenience.
..
"Looking Forward - Looking Back", the Time Passion Projectby my friend Henning Backhaus (& friends) . Henning has already done some amazing work on several songs for the "On the wind" project.
The album contains a mix of cover songs and original songs by Henning and Rudy Mangst. Check out this beautiful album.
I did the cover artwork & design for the CD.
"COLLABORATIONS", the new album by my friend Artie Q. He collaborated with me on my "Dreams Are Buried Here" project, of which the song "Falling" appears also on this cd. Also on the cd is "Chislehurst Rose" for which I provided the orchestration. The cd contains 14 exquisite songs with various talented artists.
"INDIGO", the new album by my friend Geert Amant. A collection of 13 beautiful songs in French, English and Flemish (Dutch). I did the artwork & design for the booklet of the cd and I am honoured to have participated in his latest project. Check his myspace to listen to some of the songs, for show dates and ordering the cd. I am currently also involved in maintaining the myspace page for him.
"Espurnes d'anima", the beautiful music of Eybec the Catalan duo Eysa & Bernat, finally available on CD.
Highly recommend! This music will enchant you...
"Like a Prefix World", discover the wonderful music of Prefix the japanese duo TK and Mairi, the people behind the wonderful japanese version of "On the wind".

"All My Dreams", for all those days that end in shame...
On September 11, 2001, along with millions of others I watched the news about the terrorist attacks on TV until late that night.
A couple of days later I wrote this song...

JANUARY 15, 1996: One peek into a small part of the sky, one giant leap back in time. The Hubble telescope has provided mankind's deepest, most detailed visible view of the universe.
Representing a narrow "keyhole" view stretching to the visible horizon of the universe, the Hubble Deep Field image covers a speck of the sky only about the width of a dime 75 feet away. Though the field is a very small sample of the heavens, it is considered representative of the typical distribution of galaxies in space, because the universe, statistically, looks largely the same in all directions. Gazing into this small field, Hubble uncovered a bewildering assortment of at least 1,500 galaxies at various stages of evolution...
(Read the complete article about the Hubble Deep Field here ).
Take a moment of peace and contemplation and dream about infinity and eternity while listening to the music...
Every dot, every smudge you see on this picture is a galaxy. Each contains thousands and thousands of stars, of which many have planets around them. And then, consider that this picture is only a tiny part of the sky where there seems nothing to be when you look up...
This is how Hubble makes us humans feel humble... in this view of a moment of eternity...
Watch the inspiring video “Most important image ever taken” in the favourites on my youtube page .
For the people who are interested in the orchestration:
Like in most of my music, a lot of the instruments are from the Vienna Symphonic Library : solo violin, appassionata strings, harp, flute, oboe
The ambient sounds in the beginning are created with Kore 2 from Native Instruments.
The sopranos and tenor are from Bela D Media.
Songs of Love and Loss
For some time I have been working on a song cycle called "Songs of Love and
Loss". Since march this year I began recording the vocals with Ann Van Canegem, a vocalist with lots of experience in jazz and blues. This unexpected combination of my more classical background and her bluesy voice brings a special flavour to our music.
We are steadily recording and remixing all the songs and hope we will be able to release the album in 2008.
Every song has a dedicated page on my website, where you can listen to it along with the lyrics and read some song notes.
RELICS
“wandering in your mind
you might uncover the dust
of long forgotten memories
and relive days gone by
hear your laughter
as a little boy or girl
with sparkling dreams
of a future bright and promising
maybe you will catch a glimpse
of a loved one
who crossed the edge of forever
and read a book of love
once written in your heart
or perhaps, recover
that sweet moment of surrender
finding peace
listening to voices of hope
amid the relics
in your mind”
Relics is a journey into the mind
a collection of instrumental pieces, with variations on a recurring theme “Relics II” in between.
This video was made with pictures that I took in summer 2008 at Arlington National Cemetery, the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the WWII Memorial in Washington DC.
You can watch the video in HD on my website and download a version for your iPod.
"Dreams are buried here..." is a collaboration with 2 dear friends from MI7 (and also on myspace - see my top friends): Artie Q and Mindmovie.
You can listen to the complete piece along with the lyrics and read about the collaboration and history of the piece on my website. Please support our music and buy the tracks from iTunes or another download store.
The poppy pictures for the cover image were taken by my 15 year old son Corneel.
The poppy is used as a remembrance symbol for the fallen soldiers of World War I.
"In Flanders Fields" is one of the most famous poems written during the First World War, and has been called "the most popular poem" produced during that period. It is written in the form of a French rondeau. Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote it on May 3, 1915, after he witnessed the death of his friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, the day before. The poem was first published on December 8, that year in Punch magazine.
You can read more about it on Wikipedia.

Yes, its very strange that MI7 is just gone. I liked that place, that’s where I first met you, Robin and all other great friends. It was a kind atmosphere there, focused on music. Too bad it is gone. And if it ever comes back, I think it will have a really hard time now when so many uses MySpace as their main pages.
I hope all is well with you and yours! Have a great weekend!
