Well, seeing as how we are a conglomerate of various organisms, we have many different interests. Chief amongst them is (are?) comic books. All kinds of comics. Whether they’re typical spandex fare, indie stuff, horror, fantasy – you name it, we like 'em. So long as they’re written well. And good comic art is interesting to us as well. And seeing as how we are mostly comic geeks, inkers, colorists and letterers hold a mild fascination for us too.
This section will more than likely be updated as time goes by.
Or not.
Music
Nothing compares to the subtle and overlooked genius of Harry Nilsson.
And we’re still jammin’ to the Macarena!
And, we’re lying.
All kinds of music are enjoyed by us. Most of the many species of rock are well received. Except soft rock. “Soft” rock? What, like a sponge? (Wait. A sponge is not a rock. Strike that.) Like pumice? No sir, we don’t like it.
Some portions of this hive mind also enjoy country music. But real country, like Johnny Cash and Tex Ritter. Not that country pop crap. Bleh.
Also, Jerkules thinks Frank Black is the best thing since sliced white bread.
Maybe even better.
Movies
Many comic themed movies are the bomb to us. Except the ones that suck. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen sucked. And the Ang Lee version of Hulk. As a matter of fact, I believe we all fell asleep in a puddle of our own drool when we watched the Hulk.
But we all liked the Iron Man movie. Also, since most of us are men, porn is frequently watched.
Television
Again, we’re comic geeks. So shows that have anything to do with fantasy and sci-fi are embraced with glee. Jerkules swears by the Venture Brothers. If you don't agree with him, you are wrong.
Books
Just in case you have not read anything prior to this, we are comic book experts. Since we have been able to, we’ve been reading most anything in print. If it’s entertaining, we’ll read it. If it’s not entertaining, we’ll throw it on the burn pile. Hear that Great Expectations? Your days are numbered!
Heroes
What, like, real people? Or do you mean heroes as in, comic books?
Cuz we could rattle off a whole bunch of the latter.

About me: For those of you who are presumptuous, let us make it perfectly clear that Amazing Fantasy is not the name of a porn shop. Amazing Fantasy was the name of the comic book that contains the first appearance of Spider-Man. So if you wander into one of our stores looking to purchase marital aids, we can’t help you.
Actually, more precisely, we won’t.
Amazing Fantasy is a small chain of 4 comic shops strategically located throughout the southern Chicagoland suburbs. We carry all the major comic book publishers as well as a wide assortment of indie stuff for your reading and viewing pleasure. We also carry an enormous selection of trade paperbacks and manga. Hundreds of titles, thousands of books. Honestly. We’re not exaggerating. If we converted all our trades and manga into snow, there would be an avalanche of entertainment. We’d bury you in fun.
We also have lots of toys, statues, t-shirts, posters, board games, role playing games, card games, pre-painted miniatures games and Hello Kitty merchandise. (See Hello’s vacant stare. She wants to devour your brain.) If you walk into one of our stores and we don’t have something that you are looking for, there’s a good chance that if you ask nicely, we can find it for you.
So where, exactly, are these 4 strategic locations, you ask? Well, let us tell you.
Our oldest location is the Calumet City store, located at 582 Torrence Ave in, coincidentally enough, Calumet City, Illinois. Swing on by and peruse our wide assortment of merchandise, or give us a call at (708)891-2260. Heading west from Cal City, we go to our next store at 15948 S. Harlem in Tinley Park. It’s a smaller place, but still jam-packed with more stuff than you can shake a stick at. Give us a ring-a-ding-ding at (708)633-0837. Our newest and farthest west location is at 1128 S. State Street in beautiful Lockport, Illinois. (By the way, you do not pronounce the “s” in Illinois.) It used to be in a different part of beautiful Lockport, but now, it makes it’s home next to a submarine sandwich joint and a couple of dueling Laundromats. Stop in and ogle and buy our scads of goodies. Or call at (815)834-1658. Finally, we have our flagship location at 20523 S. La Grange Road in Frankfort – a town with 1890’s charm. (Or so the wizened village elders tell us.) This store is probably one of the nicest comic shops you will ever see in your life. It also has more games than many average gaming stores. It’s quite the bee’s knees. Or, perhaps the cat’s pajamas, whatever your proclivity. Call us at (815)469-5092.
Whichever store you happen to favor, know that every location is staffed with helpful, knowledgeable and friendly people. We also bathe and shower regularly – we’re up on our personal hygiene. If you’ve ever been to an average comic shop, you’ll know this is a bonus. If you’ve not been to an average comic shop, believe us when we write, this is a bonus.
Also, we’re all dead sexy.
