"You may recognize these names as Italy's finest in the fields of ambient, electronics, microsound, post guitar" (Frans De Waard, Vital Weekly)
The Meerkat ensemble is formed by a group of musicians working in the field of experimental music, drones, microsounds and field recordings: Adriano Zanni / Punck, Matteo Uggeri / Hue, Luca Sigurtà, Luca Bergero / Fhievel, Davide Valecchi / Aal, Andrea Ferraris / Ics<, Fabio Selvafiorita, Paolo Ippoliti (Logoplasm), Laura Lovreglio (Logoplasm) and Andrea Marutti / Amon / Never Known.
The seven tracks on "Kapnos" present a surprising homogeneity in spite of the different attitudes of the artists, which mixed their experiences in each track creating new unforeseen connections, working in pairs or in threesome on each track.
Here's some laudatory quotes:
"The music is excellent - a fine mixture of styles and interests from these guys. All the elements one would expect are there, the field recordings, drones, ambience, microscopic detailed sounds. Great stuff here." (Frans de Waard, Vital Weekly)
"Seven crossed collaborations among the beautiful minds of the Italian experimental electronic scene" (Paolo Bertoni, Blow Up)
"A coherent and unitary suite of seven movements that tend to a sound [...] of unique beauty" (Vittore Baroni, Rumore)

SCUM FROM THE SUN "SCUM FROM THE SUN" out on June 1st, 2009
Scum (now Scum From The Sun) were born as a way to experiment with uncompromising electroacoustic music. It is an open collective that also declares its intentions through installations, videos and other art forms.
"Scum From The Sun", their official debut album, was recorded and mixed during 2008. Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi, it was co-produced by Afe and finally released in June 2009.
The album mixes doom-metal elements with post-rock dialogues and ambient/experimental textures and synth-lines. As a concept, it focuses on those moments of life when losing oneself is necessary and unavoidable to reach mutation. Structured like an alchemical process, the CD consists of four tracks. Each of them represent a different level in the process which leads to the "Great Work", a metaphor of Man's spiritual elevation.
Here's some quotes from the press:
"Packed in a metal box, Scum From The Sun is an eye-catching item." (Gothtronic)
(Blow Up)
(Dagheisha)
"Negli ultimi anni tra Isis, Old Man Gloom, Jesu e compagnia bella si è mosso parecchio nell'ambito doomshoegaze-e-contaminazionivarie; una prima "risposta italiana" era già arrivata con i Vanessa Van Basten, ora gli Scum From The Sun provano a spostare l'asse verso lidi più elettronici e sperimentali." A FEW WORDS ABOUT AFE
Afe is a small label based in Milan, Italy, and is run by Andrea Marutti. Its name stands for "Another Friendly Edition" and its catalogue focuses mostly on experimental, weird - or simply cool - music made with extensive use of electronic instruments.
Besides releasing music, Afe also offers an audio mastering service and a pins/buttons manufacturing service to bands, labels, individuals, etc. You can learn more about these services visiting the audio mastering and pins/buttons departments.
The aim of Afe is to break down the barriers existing in electronic music and its efforts are addressed to all the fearless / open-minded listeners who will be able to get over the terrible shock of seeing such extremely different productions standing side by side.
Most of the Afe releases are published as limited edition CD-Rs with high quality packages. We also publish a few regular CDs each now and then, most of the times as collaborations with Eibon Records or other friendly labels.
For more information about the label and its catalogue, please visit our ever-growing website located at www.aferecords.com.
If you're an electronic music maker you may wish to have your music published by Afe. Please note that despite the high quality both of the music and the packages Afe is not a big business, most of our releases are limited edition CD-Rs. We are always busy working on forthcoming releases and, believe it or not, as you read these lines we have releases planned until the next 12 or so months.
That's the reason why WE HAVE DECIDED TO NOT ACCEPT DEMOS. If you read these lines and you still want to send us a demo you should know that we may not be able to properly listen to it for weeks or even months. Please don't expect a quick reply. We're not becoming unfriendly but we're very stressed, so please help us to get through this pain: DON'T SEND US A DEMO.
Please also keep in mind that even if we may enjoy your music, we may not be able to release it. In case you're some stubborn guy who really want to send us a demo just like it was a matter of "life or death", please send your music only on CD-R. Any other format won't be considered at all, sorry.
If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to get in touch and we'll do our best to reply in a reasonable time.
HOW DO YOU SAY "AFE"?
We've been asked about the correct spelling of "Afe" a thousand times... We decided to create a very small .mp3 file (about 0.2 mb) so that everyone can download it and listen.

[S27-016] Nonima & Sonal - The Death of Youth (IDM, Experimental)
One more release from our own Nonima, this time collaborating with fellow noisemaker Sonal. The sound and tone of "The Death of Youth" is quite a drastic change from what may be expected, there is some technically programmed beats and clicks aplenty yes, but it's the abundance of ambience and Sonal's heavily processed guitar work that makes this release a worthy addition to Nonima's hastily growing catalogue of releases.
Recorded one night in June as an improvised jam session between the two artists, it evolved into what we have now. Complete with some rather disturbing samples from serial killer testimonies and the brilliant "Session 9" movie by Brad Anderson, of course.
"The Death of Youth" is certainly dark and fractured stuff, perfect for headphones at 3am. Available as a *free* download from Section 27's site . Its all in the numbers. ;)

Having released a couple of tuneful albums with theAudiologist and Soni Jimm since my last LP, "Fear of Mathematics", Section 27 Netlabel brings you "Wrpdata”, containing 14 tracks full of chunky, breathy and some would even say pleasantly broken breaks, some good-time-mind-fuck glitch, a few (thankfully blissful) orchestrated mixes featuring the talents of Pinklogik and theAudiologist (also acting as co-producer on this release) respectively, and ends sweetly with some beautiful spoken word poetry by the lovely aussie Cindel Waddington.
A delight on the sensory organs from start to finish, "Wrpdata" is available now for *free* download (see my page or www.myspace.com/section27netlabel). Licensed by Creative Commons.
