Q, aka E. Shawn Qaissaunee was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and raised in the USA. His first tour was at the age of 18 through Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. Shawn attended Berklee College of Music (Jazz Composition/Music Education) and studied with Jon Damian, Pat Martino and Wolfgang Muthspiel. Shawn has performed extensively in the USA and abroad and currently is involved with a number of projects including the Afghan Jazz Project, Spontaneous Underground and The Q Factor. Shawn has opened for McCoy Tyner and recently opened for Derek Trucks at the Strathmore Music Center in Bethesda, MD.
