Speaking of phallic symbols, I totally made an ass out of myself in my archaeology class last semester. The teacher showed a picture of a huge, cylindrical mass that was protruding high into the air and he asked the class what we thought it was. Yep, I said it looked like a phallic something. He laughed and said "Well we know where YOUR mind goes, however, this is a well. It had been used for so many years that as the earth built up around it, they kept adding to the well. And when we excavated, this is what we got.
