Sounds Like It is true, the world is full of underground posers, sharpening their sticks for the coming revolution against an opposition that doesn't exist, artistes who haven't done a lick of real artistic work , who use their supposed underground artistic cred to get them in bed with whomever they can scam, would-be rock stars that think they are evolving music by turning it into a vapid fashion show, and supposed followers of old school DIY punks who haven't yet realized that their ideological stance, though noble in its way, simply limits them. But there are also daring innovators and experimenters, willing to risk all to contribute their perspective to the ongoing narrative that is our collective heritage. So how can I say "there is no counterculture?" I can say it, and mean it, because these people would ask you what you're smoking, if you asked what it's like, being a part of "The Counterculture." There is no Grand Unified Scene. These innovators I'm speaking of are the people who push their own boundaries, and the boundaries of the culture around them enough that they are simply classified as "counterculture" or "revolutionary" because the culture, and the media, doesn't really know what to make of them. (My hope is, you could very well be one yourself.)

You guys are sounding excellent! How would you like to enter the World’s biggest and best band competition, the Global Battle of the Bands?

The Heat runs Friday 31st July at Al’s Bar & Cafe. Its the first time we have held a Heat outside of Auckland in NZ so we want all the best local bands involved to really make a good impression! The top bands will progress to the New Zealand Regional Final where two bands will win a spot at the Australasian Finals in Sydney! If you succeed here, we will pay for your trip to London where you get the opportunity to compete against bands from all over the world for US$100,000 cash! Pretty sweet huh?

There are just a few bands entered at the moment, so you’ll have a really good chance to win! Look up www.gbob.com and register ASAP to get involved (you can register up until the day before but get in quick to guarantee your spot!). If you have any questions, call 612 9519 3978 or email burgessventures1@bigpond.com.
Hope we’ll see you there!

Rock on,
GBOB AUSTRALIA

James and Co thanks again for the invite. Was a pleasure. James... the handshake thing... just making up for lost time bro! Anyway how'd the Kings Arms show go? Valve should be good tonight! Did you guys drive down? (ouch). Hope you guys have all enjoyed the tour, it was fucking excellent supporting you guys! Hope you recouped some of the petrol money eh. Nice to meet you all and let's hook some more stuff up in future :)

PS, let us know how things go with the ADAT live recording. Very keen to hear via download/CD-R/whatevs. It would actually be the first and only recording of a few of our songs. Looking forward to it!

Much respect,
Jae & Shima cats

Hi guys,

Long time no see.

I teach this awesome school band called Thorrington School of Rock. They are in the My School Band Rocks competition on Juicetv. com. There are over 20 kids in the band.

Please check it out and vote if you are so inclined.
:)
Thanks!
Simon
