TESTIMONIALS ABOUT US:Evette Striblen Wednesday, 9/10/08, 12:16 PMDoug has been our court fool for the last three years, and has been an incredible addition to our annual middle school Renaissance Faire. The kids love his interactive, humourous presentation, and the beautiful thing is they learn through listening, watching and actually acting out literature. Douglas also adds his human element, talking about himself. He is inspiring, informing and fun! I would highly recommend him for any school function!! Hi. I haven’t heard from you in a while and thought I’d check in. I hope you’re having a fun summer. I’ve been getting my second novel ready for publication next winter. In the meantime, Rock & Roll Homicide was released in e-book and Kindle formats a couple of weeks ago, for less than the price of a paperback. Anyone with a computer can download the e-book in a big, easy-to-read font. To take a look, go to www.rjmcdonnell.com/e-book_kindle.htm. Let me know how your summer is going when you get a chance. - RJ
AN EARTH DAY EXCERPT - A DOG'S EYE VIEW Ziggy put his paws over his floppy black ears. He knew what was coming. He knew the Professor was ready to launch into one of his long tirades and he couldn't bear to hear it. It was just too painful for his sensitive ears. He had heard there were places on the earth that were messed up. Word had gotten around. His friends had told him. The birds, who traveled back and forth through the seasons, flying everywhere over water and land, had seen it. Bird told Rabbit. Rabbit had been frightened when he told the gentle deer. And Deer had told Ziggy. Something awful was happening in these places called cities.
The squirrels were gathering more nuts than they needed, afraid there wouldn't be any more trees. Their friends the frogs were disappearing and no one knew why. They needed the frogs! They're the ones who sing to the thunder being. Their song brings on the rain.
Everyone was talking about it. They told Ziggy the problem was his friends, the humans. They were taking up more space than the Great Universal Source had allotted them. Turtle said the humans should learn to slow down and look around. Snake said some of their poisons would wake them up soon enough. Spider said not to worry. The humans had created a web and gotten caught in it. But some of them would see their way out. They could see the light, the weaving of the whole universe. And after all, even flying insects knew to go to the light, didn't they?
I’m writing to update you on three new developments. First, Rock & Roll Homicide is now available at Barnes & Noble. Second, last Thursday the cover art was featured on the top mystery blog, Poe’s Deadly Daughters, for the Anthony Awards nominating committee to review. The next day, my novel was the lead on mystery site, Baker Street Clarion. I put a link to both sites on my Media page. To take a look click here. Keep in touch.
Ivy and Ziggy had returned. Ivy, fascinated by the Professor's words asked, "What's Quantia, Professor Angelicus?" "Why, Quantia is the Rainbow Planet. You could say it's in the center of the universe, in the flash between moments of time and space. It was created out of water and light, at the very place where the light meets and shimmers off the water. Some of us call it the Land of Sparkle. You can look into the windows of Quantia from here. You can see it from almost anywhere, if you look hard enough." "We can?" cried the children, "How?" In a gentle voice, he pointed: "Look at the sun sparkling on the river. Look at the dewdrops glistening on the trees. Walk through a puddle of rain, and when the sun comes out, you'll see it! You can even see it in the eyes of your fellow earthlings when they laugh!” And with that, he let out the deepest, heartiest laugh the children had ever heard, and his eyes began to twinkle like a thousand blue stars on a clear winter night.

I hope you guys feel better! I just lost that battle myself. We are throwing Savannah a tenth birthday party on Sunday Feb 22nd and would love for you guys to come. Please let me know if you are free that day.
The docs are not sure what is wrong with me. It has been an ongoing problem since the beginning of Dec, so they are doing tests right now to find out. I want to make sure everything is okay before I start student teaching. Speaking of which...I am freaking out! I am so scared right now. I feel like I have to jump off of this cliff and the days are getting closer and closer to the jump date. I know that I should trust in God, because when I jump, he will let me fly. Jumping is the hard part.
I am BACK BACK BACK from my month-long vacation! This little seasonal card is my way of saying SORRY I DIDN'T WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS ON TIME! Apparently the Internet hasn't discovered the Caribbean yet!
But I didn't forget you, even when we had too much rum - and there is ALWAYS too much rum in the islands... hehe! Here is hoping you and yours had a BEAUTIFUL holiday season.
"Stars? We're made of stars? Is Ziggy?" Ivy was star struck.
"Are you made of stars, Professor Angelicus?" asked Zak. "Is Quantia?"
"Absolutely. Nothing more and nothing less," the professor affirmed. "The iron in your blood, the calcium in your bones...everything. Even the tiniest drop of water shining on a spider's web is stardust and starlight. All living things are related. We're all brothers and sisters."
He pointed out toward the silent brilliance in space, his large eyes clear and luminescent. "We were all created in the intergalactic clouds that came from the first great breath of life. Some call it the Essence of God."
Ziggy wagged his tail and his eyes sparkled. He understood what the professor was saying...
