AFRI-KOKOA is back by public demand - after we delivered a Bank Holiday that set a new landmark for modern afro arts and music events.
We bring to you a unique and exciting all dayer arts and music festival! This will be the beginning of a new chapter at a new venue the ‘Rich Mix’.
Headlining the night and providing a dancing, funking tribute to the ancestors of Afro music is the wild and exuberant Yaaba Funk. A 10-piece Afro beat band of many years experience performing their dance floor-filling brand of original 70’s Ghanaian Hi-Life and hard-hitting funk, cut with a strong dose of ‘Afro-broken-beat’ and more than a hint of Dub.
Miles Cleret, honcho of legendary Soundway Records, digs out a deep funky selection of classic African funk soul. Expect to hear sounds that he discovered on his famous collections Ghana Soundz. The night will be finished off in dance floor filling style with modern afro warriors DJ Eric Soul (Afrogroov, Components) with African Mc Dou G with Afri-kokoa Resident DJs AJ Kwame and Baggy.
The event will be free during the day to all and especially aimed at families during the day featuring activities for the young kids including free African Drumming and African Story telling.
In the early evening there will feature a London Talent session with two promising female singers giving us interpretations of their soul music.
There will be a viewing of new short film “Love is..” followed by a Q and A with the film makers.

Dele Sosimi a le secret de l’Afrobeat. Clavier de Fela de 1979 à 1986, co-fondateur de Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, il est actuellement basé à Londres en tant que maître incontestable de l’Afrobeat. Sa musique très inspirée du roi Fela et de l’univers Yoruba est un mélange de funk, de groove lancinant, de high-life, de jazz chaudement cuivré et des rythmes traditionnels du Nigeria. Alchimiste et griot moderne de l’Afrobeat, c’est sur scène que l’on mesure la puissance de son canon massif qui enflamme les salles, prouvant qu’il possède lui aussi cette lampe récupérée de la concession familiale de Lagos pour irradier le public.

Le récit s’achève avec « Together », époustouflant duo phénoménal avec Sandra Nkake !
