Afrosaxon is a hip-hop crew from Bristol, UK. At the core of the movement are MC/Producer Brother Nature, alongside MC's Madlox & Spike Foxxx, supported by a number of talented singers and rappers from around Bristols' inner- city.
The name Afrosaxon explains the groups heritage, with roots in Jamaica, America, Africa and England, and all born, or long term resident in the UK.
The biggest live shows have all taken place in Bristol, supporting Afrika Bambaata at Bristols Thekla, Kosheen at Bristol Academy, opening for Jay Dilla (RIP) at the Thekla on his last tour, and most recently The Pharcyde at Bristol Bierkeller and Dead PreZ's Bigger Than Hiphop tour at Bristol Academy.
Open air shows include BristolHarboursider festival and the Bigger Top stage at Ashton Court Festival, with numerous international and local acts. Prior to this, Madlox & Bro Nature came together with Elle Dee to mc for the Colourstone sound system, supporting Kosheen at Brixton Academy, and had previously been the founders of 'Catchin Smoke', who played several high profile gigs in Bristol in the late nineties, supporting DJ's such as Tim Westwood and Rampage, releasing a white label and receiving considerable airplay .
Afrosaxon have recieved airplay in countries as diverse as the U.S, France, Italy, and Croatia, as well as the UK's Radio 1 Xtra (Madlox also hosted Bristols winning mixtape in the recent National Radio 1 Xtra Mixtape Challenge) , and have been reviewed in local and national British Press, and various online magazines in around the world.
With one album near completion, and a second well underway, as well as several solo Rap and RnB projects also in development, Natural Selection is set to take UK Hip Hop to the next level.
