General..Ancient cultures; museums; libraries; the dark and macabre; live music -- opera; musty, hard-bound books; anatomy; art and cultural history; hand-crafted jewelry; costuming; sculpture; mixed media design; unusual and exotic food; traveling; wildlife and conservation; nuns; dance; British comedies; passion; expansion of the mind -- I enjoy variety and love to learn something new each day.
Music..My musical tastes are eclectic in nature; I have music playing in the studio daily -- opera, opera, opera! It inspires, it uplifts, it is my muse. Mario del Monaco (the Errol Flynn of opera), Andrea Bocelli, Wagner, Mozart, classical and instrumental, Le'rue Delashay, Unto Ashes, Rasputina, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rammstein, Type O Negative, Rob Zombie, Danzig, My Dying Bride, Claire Voyant, The Gathering... I am out of touch with today's pop culture reality and haven't the slightest clue who might be 'topping the pop 40 charts' at this moment in time. I am always on the hunt for new and intriguing musical selections and would be pleased to receive any recommendations one might have to offer.
Movies..An avid fan of foreign films and indies -- The Magdalene Sisters, Happy Times, House of Fools, The Road Home, The Sea is Watching, Together, The Way Home, The King of Masks, Breaking the Waves -- Napoleon Dynamite, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Tumbleweeds, Brokeback Mountain, Clockwatchers... the list is endless. I am also a documentary addict. Cinemania, The Jaundiced Eye, The Farmer's Wife, My Flesh and Blood, and my favorite -- Spellbound.
Television..Little Britain, The 1900's House (and the lot of 'historical experimentation' BBC/PBS series), Ab Fab, The Vicar of Dibley, Carnivale, Coupling, The Duchess of Duke Street, Freaks and Geeks, Grey's Anatomy, The L Word, The Sopranos, Family Guy, Cold Feet, Heroes, The League of Gentlemen, Manchild.
Books..Non-fiction (research, research, research)! 'How-To' books, art, cultural history. Royal Babylon, Jane Austen and all things Victorian, The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce, The Lives of the Mayfair Witches, The Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony, Grimm's Tales, Swan Song by Robert McCammon, The Bronte Sisters, Dante, Chaucer, and many other guilty pleasures. I also listen to unabridged audio books in my studio EVERY DAY.

AboutAfter Dark Jewelry
Natasha has been passionately designing and crafting her own unique jewelry items since early childhood, slowly honing her creative style over a 20 year period. Her current work focuses on incorporating found objects into handcrafted mixed media art pieces. Insects, antique doll parts, stained glass, vintage metal stampings and ephemera of all kinds find their way into After Dark designs. Natasha creates many of her beads, pendants and focal pieces out of clay and mixed metal and paints each by hand with an aged patina finish. As a result of her chosen media, the finished jewelry pieces are extremely durable.
After Dark Jewelry is the culmination of a life-long dream for Natasha: to develop an artistic business based on uplifting, inspiring and adorning the female form. Her goal throughout the creative process is to encourage women to be bold, daring, and utterly extraordinary -- to embrace their own unique qualities, both inside and out. Natasha weaves a story within each miniature work of art, and hopes those who choose to wear her handiwork will feel the strength and love she infuses into every piece.

After Dark Jewelry is a company devoted to preserving and protecting our planet's natural resources. We make every effort to ensure we are utilizing techniques and practices that are environmentally sound, both at home and in the studio. Natasha does not use leather in her designs. Rather, she focuses on developing techniques in clay which mimic the sheen of embossed leather. The end product is much more versatile! After Dark does incorporate insects and other wildlife into its jewelry, but will only use found insects which were discarded or have expired naturally in the wild. We do not wish to contribute to the loss of our natural resources but serve as a means to celebrate nature. As a proud resident of Austin, TX, home of the largest urban bat population in the world, After Dark Jewelry donates 5% of every sale to Bat Conservation International.
