This five piece rock group hails from Montijo, Setúbal, Portugal, and have been hard at work for the release of their first Demo that will be, coming soon.
The band first came together in 2000, when Joao Fernandes (guitar, vocals) and Jose Pedro (drummer), where looking for a singer to form what was, initially, supposed to be a cover band but with singer-songwriter Pedro Carvalho, they soon realized that producing original songs was where they felt more comfortable and accomplished as musicians.
Within 5 months, Miguel (bass) and Mario Queluz (guitar, vocals) were introduced to the project by Joao Fernandes and joined the band shortly after. By the end of 2002, problems compromising with the band’s practice schedule lead Miguel to leave the band in pursue of a professional career.
The band searched long and hard for a worthy substitute, in the time that followed, but could never find one. In 2006, and after a lot of attempts at keeping the band afloat, Jose Pedro decided to put an end to his contribution to the band and left to finish his college degree. Faced with this decision, Joao, Pedro and Mario, reluctantly, decided to put the band on hold and hoped for better days. In the time that followed, they never lost touch with each other and kept playing on and off and in and out of bands until David (bass) and Joao Dimas (drums) came along and helped reunite the band. In 2007, After the Break entered a local competition and won the audience award for best band, wich gave them strength and a new found confidence to carry on with the project.
Unfortunately, David, made it clear that his heart and soul was always with playing guitar and after the competition he would look for another project where he could put more focus on guitar playing. A few weeks later, Paulo Salvador (bass) joined the band to help record our Demo CD, later Paulo parted ways with the band due to personal motives.
Joao Covas is now the man behind the bass. His ambition and dedication met with the bands ultimate goal. Wich is to become the very best we can be.
Harder than ever, we are now working our way to a stage near you... Better be ready when we do!
