Influences
Too many fantastic bands, musicians and artists out there to name... but a few won't hurt. We love Neil Young, Tom Waits, Sparklehorse, Wilco, Talk Talk, Eels, Slayer, Grandaddy, RadioHead, The Jam... you can make up the rest if you like, we've probably tapped a foot to 'em at some time or other...
Vocalist Daniel Pipe and guitarist Ricky Brooks first joined together in the summer of 2000 as they started to write tales of weakness and woe that complimented their folk leanings. Over the following years, they recruited top-class drummer Jonathan "Flash" Coote, a veteran of numerous bands, and bass player Martin Omond. Gradually, the band's sound started to develop and, although gigs were few and far-between, this afforded them the time to record their 5-track EP "Requiem for the Unconscious Mind". Towards the end of 2005 the band decided to try to broaden their sound with the addition of a keyboard player, which saw the acquisition of Matt Bonito (known to most as Neb) to create a five piece. After one gig with this line up, the band lost their bass player (and youngest member), Martin, to higher education, but with an appearance in Leicester Square looming large on the horizon, they decided to draft in Keith "Beefy Reefy" Bradshaw from metal band Gunslinger to deputise. This was initially a "one night only" affair, as nobody could have thought a metal bass player and a folk band would work together, but both parties were sufficiently impressed with each other, that Keith left Gunslinger to become a permanent member of After The Rush in a now settled line-up.
Since then, the gigs have been flowing, with numerous London shows, a summer festival, as well as their "Triumphant Homecoming" at the Kings Arms in Saffron Walden under their belts. The current line-up of Daniel, Ricky, Jon, Neb and Keef has started to create a new (but not unrecognisable) sound that encompasses Americana, Rock 'n Roll and Mod stylings, whilst still keeping that original folk element that started it all.
The band have recently released their self-financed debut album "Reality Is What You Can Get Away With" and is available to buy now.
Live @ Merc Clothing, Carnaby Street, London, 19/10/06
So I’ve just uploaded a new tune - it’s called ‘Long Days, Late Nights’ and you can hear it on my page right now!
Having never written and recorded an entire EP all on my own before I was perhaps a little optimistic in thinking it’d be ready for the end of August; it is nearly done, just not quite yet!
The new tune is going to be the last song on the EP - I think it has that kinda melancholy vibe, but I'd love to know your thoughts..
Do you realise that you haven't had a real comment on here since September 2007? That's nearly a whole year! It's all been "ooh, y'know, look at our page, yeah? We've got a song on there and everything. We like David Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead and Kris Akabusi. We done a gig once. My Mum came."

We say "Das ist fantastisch" --> That's fantastic.
If a noun follows, the adjective has to be declined according to casus and genus of the noun
Who or what do I hear? (nominative)
Die fantastische Sängerin --> the fantastic singer (female)
Den fantastische Sänger --> the fantastic singer (male)
Das fantastische Klavier --> the fantastic piano (neutrum)
Whose song it is? (genetive)
Das Lied der fantastischen Sängerin (female) --> the song of the fantastic singer
Das Lied des fantastischen Sängers --> the song of the fantastic singer (male)
Das Lied des fantastischen Klaviers --> the song of the fantastic piano (neutrum) (doesn't make sense, but you get my drift).
Whom do I listen to? (dative)
Der fantastischen Sängerin --> the fantastic singer (female)
Dem fantastischen Sänger --> the fantastic singer (male)
Dem fanstastischen Klavier --> the fantastic piano (neutrum)
Whom do I see? (nominative)
Die fantastische Sängerin --> the fantastic singer (female)
Den fantastischen Sänger --> the fantastic singer (male)
Das fantastische Klavier --> the fantastic piano (neutrum)
Mind you, this is singular only. Don't get me started on plural.
