About me:

Photobucket

Based out of London, UK and Seattle, USA, Funkbuddha Productions is a motion picture company committed to development, production and support of first class independent films of various genres. For inquiries: info@funkbuddha.com

Jay Purcell - Director/DP/Writer/Producer/Editor
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

British director Jay Purcell first came to light in 2006 with his short film 'Intelligent Risk Taking', based on a poem by Darren Gray and featured in his 2004 book 'Delicate Elephant'. The film went on to gain international attention of Jay's work, leading to numerous media appearances and eventually in 2007 to Seattle where Jay made his US directorial debut with the short film 'Continuum' starring Agnes Muljadi & Rodrigo DeMedeiros. Following 'Continuum' Jay remained in Seattle to form Funkbuddha Productions, a new independent film studio in collaboration with actors Agnes Muljadi, Isaac Bekker and producer Christin Reuss. His latest film, 'Dichotomy', marks his feature length directorial debut and the first feature film to come from Funkbuddha Productions. 'Continuum' and 'Dichotomy' will be released to select film festivals internationally in Spring 2009 before entering general release.

Agnes Muljadi - Actress/Writer
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Indonesian-born actress Agnes Muljadi began her career as a ballet dancer and received her professional training in Indonesia, England and America. Upon completion of her training, she danced leading and soloist roles with various ballet companies in the Pacific Northwest. Agnes made her professional acting debut in the documentary style short film, 'Cool Daddy' in late 2005. Her portrayal of a sexually abused daughter immediately gained her critical acclaim and was soon followed by leading roles in other independent films such as 'Vanish', 'Porcelain', 'Forecast', and the highly anticipated British short film, 'Continuum'. Deemed one of the most promising newcomers to emerge in recent years, Agnes will be starring in two upcoming feature films, 'Dichotomy' and 'The Blank Canvas'. She is the recipient of the 2007 Outstanding Women in Film & Music Award and is an ambassador for Lululemon Athletica.

Christin Reuss-Purcell - Producer/Stylist
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A graduate of Kirov Academy of Ballet and London Studio Centre, Christin Reuss-Purcell has performed leading and soloist roles from numerous ballets in the US, UK, France, Germany and India. While teaching at a few private schools in India, she also started her own ballet school in Kolkata where she served as Artistic Director. Upon her return to the US, Christin began working as the key stylist to actress Agnes Muljadi. She joined Funkbuddha Production as a co-producer in early 2007 and was responsible for setting up the US office in Seattle and heading up the pre-production efforts for our US film debut, 'Continuum.' In addition to her co-producer role, Christin also served as the key stylist and casting director for the film.

Isaac Bekker - Actor/Executive Producer
Photobucket

Born of Moroccan and Polish parents and raised in Texas, Isaac Bekker has been immersing himself in the craft of acting since 2003. His on-screen intensity and physical commitment have led him to numerous roles in independent films and stage productions. Isaac’s diverse film credits have ranged from the comical cowboy (’Cowboy Dreams’) and perfect boyfriend (’Looking for Lisa’) to the arrogant action hero (’Mancrush’), ruthless hitman (’The Contract’), and womanizing police officer (’The Coffee Break’). On stage, he has performed in various short-plays and starred as the silent Ivan in Bellevue Opera’s ‘Die Fledermaus’. In early 2008, Isaac joined the Seattle/London-based production company, Funkbuddha Productions, as an actor and producer. He is looking forward to tackling the complex role of Vincent Carter in the upcoming feature film, ‘Dichotomy’.

Thank you for the offer of friendship. I am honored! Funkbuddha Productions has completely renewed my faith in the Seattle film community. 'Continuum' is such a powerful and beautiful work of cinematic art. It has impecable production values and the most professional and talented cast & crew. Arguably the most promising film coming out of Seattle due to the incredible vision of Purcell/Muljadi.

I wish you all many years of success and happiness. Keep those gut wrenching films coming!
