DOES ANYONE PLAY THE TROMBONE?! GET AT US!
Against Our Will was formed in April of 2004. The Ryans of the band had been in a few bands together along with jamming for quite some time. Ryan Hughes started jamming with the drummer, Adam Curcie, in the start of their freshman year. After a few bands the three joined to make trio. Suddenly finding themselves in a rut, they started searching for a singer. Ryan Hughes got word through the grapevine that a guy in his homeroom could sing. Wasting no time, Will Hay jammed with the trio, soon to become their lead singer. The four became 3 Against One for a brief time and acquired a second guitarist, Greg Watts. Noticing that their current name wouldn’t fit with five members, they renamed themselves Fowl Habit [Due to a sign hanging on the wall of their practice location depicting a chicken smoking a cigarette with the words 'Fowl habit' underneath it]. This name only lasted a few weeks because the members realized how stupid it was and got tired of telling friends how they come up with it. Ryan Chapman finally came up with the name Against Our Will and after the band, AND Mrs. Curcie agreed, the name stuck. After their first show in mid-June, creative differences between Greg and the band reached a high and his tour of duty with A.O.W was over. Having spent all summer and early fall working on their songs A.O.W played Corey Phillips Halloween show along with Falling Forward, Mistaken Identity and Waiting on Forever. When February 2005 came along and the band started seeing themselves recording, they new a lead guitarist would be needed. After careful deliberation, Chris Huttanus was inducted into Against Our Will. By March of that same year, Adam Curcie had been replaced with freshman Mike Schenk on drums. A.o.W. kept two songs and worked the new members into them, and wrote many more. A total of 4 songs will be recorded May 14th and 15th with Jake Levin, which will become 'The Aftermath of Change, EP'. Keep your eyes open for that and many shows in the near future!
*EDIT* Ryan Chapman now sings and Jared Birdseye now plays bass, Will is no longer a member of the band. Ryan does both singing and bass on the 'Aftermath of Change, EP' but jared will be playing all shows from this point on.
