Toronto is about to get a little bit brighter with the launch of WE’LO, as it pedals its way towards promoting a higher level of social and environmental consciousness. In an effort dedicated to producing clean green energy to power the lights for non-profit, government and corporate organizations, WE’LO is announcing its green arrival – on wheels.
The WeloBike, a prototype designed to produce an average of 50w/h of electricity per cycling hour (and 100w/h for experienced cyclists), will be the main feature at the Inaugural Product Launch Benefit Concert and Fundraiser, We’Local. In partnership with The Gateway homeless shelter, Welo is gearing up for this event, taking place in Toronto, ON at the Annex Wreckroom, at 8pm on September 13, 2007.
Hosted by local emcee Ill Seer, the benefit concert will feature several different genres of progressive music, including a live instrumental PA by Vangel (5 ¼ Recordings / Urbnet), folk-rock powerhouse Julia Churchill (Fire Escape Records), indie sensation Elephant, and the soulful hiphop of headliner The Runaway (Prophetic Poetic).
Join us for the International, Interdenominational, HIS GIFTS HIS PRESENCE NEW ENGLAND ARTS FESTIVAL at the Greater Portland Vineyard, 715 Bridgton St., Westbrook, Maine, June 23rd 2007.
We are honored, again to have Alvin Ailey's Stephanie Powell performing at the festival and teaching a free community dance workshop, June 22nd, for the fourth year in a row.
This years festival is shaping up to be the best ever. We have artists from Australia (including the head of Art Refuge of Perth), Germany, Russia, the head of Arts for Christ from Cairo Egypt, and a photographer from South Africa, that just got commissioned to photograph George W. Bush in 2007, joining us for this years event. Also Rebirth Dance Company from London England, Selah Warriors of Praise, dancers from Georgia, dancer Jasmine Bates from California (who ministered extensively at the Potter's House under Bishop T. D. Jakes, with Dr Bobby Jones and TBN), internationally renown pastel artist David Costello, international speaker/ painter Barbara Bagshaw, and Maine's Poet Laureate, Betsy Sholl. Also Musicians, Lisa Gallant Seal, Rap artists Anonymous 1, and Lamar Callahan, from Boston, and African Gospel Rhythms, with Pastor Pezzy, from Zambia, the Browne Boyz from Pennsylvania, the Warrior Poetes will be joining us yet again, and many more!

What's up? I am part of team of people working with the gang at Oasis in Havelock, NC. Oasis is a Christian Cafe/Coffeehouse—A place to Gather, Grow, and Go. We are targeting the 20-30 something generation, especially those who are lost and away from God. We are in the process of developing a more consistent format (open mic nights, impromptu comedy, short drama sketches, artistic expression, poetry, sculpture, painting, you name it) including an experiential worship encounter each weekend.
In many cases what most people identify as the church is not what our target generation is seeking. In case you don’t know, we are in a post-Christian era in our culture. This is why we aim to provide a postmodern format. In doing so we hope to create an alternative gathering that is both experiential and challenging. Relationship is the primary value that drives our efforts. We believe that life change happens best in the context of loving relationships.
